Another door pull replacement

Seems to be common for the door pulls to break. My local dealer wanted $85 each for new pulls. I got them for $37.50 online at trademotion.com and they shipped from:

Mercedes Benz of Ft. Lauderdale
2411 South Federal Highway
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316

203 810 16 51 1434
203 810 15 51 1434
the last four digits are for the trim color. In my case JAVA.

Thirty minutes in the driveway and new pulls installed.

does it come with instructions? Thirty minutes doesn't seem like a long time but what did installation entail?

Can you guys believe that my dealer quoted me $250 to repair haha..talk about stealership :/

And a write-up here:

I've still got to do mine, but it's too damn cold.

If they're different prices, my assumption would be that they are different parts.

Buying the correct part once is cheaper.

out of all the repairs I've had to pay for and had done, grab handle breaking has been the one that angered me the most.

I think it's because it's something unthinkable from any other manufacturer, or atleast it's a problem I've never had to deal with from any other manufacturer.

grab handle breaking... on a Mercedes Benz... wtf...

anyway, thanks for posting the links. wish I knew couple years earlier... would have saved me $200 I paid the stealership! doh!

$40 replacement cost next time, I can deal with that... I'm sure it will break on me again at some point.

why are the dang grab handle so flimsy! argh!

Thanks for the links and information everyone. I just replaced the passenger door handle and would add a couple of comments. Do not just pull the panel from the bottom. You will break some of the clips that hold the panel snug for the airbag to work. Buy a few extra clips just in case. Put a rubber mat under the door and lay down looking up and carefully locate the plug clips and pry them out with a forked tool one by one from the bottom up.

If someone can help you hold the panel you don't have to unhook the door latch or any of the electrical connections. Make sure your torx screwdriver or wrench are magnetic, or use a piece of tape to hold the torx screw on the end of the screwdriver, especially for the screw behind the SRS cap.

Good tips. I agree - might as well buy a good amount of the clips while you're buying the door pull; they're cheap, and yes, I've broken several over the years.
