C230 Kompressor (02 Copupe)
Greetings,

Hello, I just found out about MBWorld.Org, I have been looking for a website like this one for a while and I finally found it so I will stick around...

Im 18 years old and proud to own a c230 Kompressor, Coupe.

I know this might have been discussed in this forum before, but I need information about a chip for my car. I have been checking many different websites. The only chips I found boost the cars to about 230 hp, but do they boost the car after 120 mph only?

Also, I have a friend who ownz a shop and he makes his own chips, he has chipped some c230s, slks, s 500, and lots of Audis. And his offering me to a chip for my car for about $400. I asked a friend for his oppinion *he owns an s4) and he told that it looks pretty good, but that there might be problems with the warranty and stuff. If I use that chip in my car, can it damage the car in any way?

Welcome to the board. There are several threads on this page discussing the Kleemann pulley kit vs. the Upsolute chip. A chip for the C230k probably will not have as large a change as those on turbocharged cars but is grater than the results seem on normally aspirated cars.

Mods to a car may (probably according to many here) void the warranty. The Upsolute chip only raises the boost from 5 psi to 7 psi, so the chances of damaging your engine are quite small but not zero.

Please use the search feature of this from to look for the words "Upsolute", "Kleemann", "chip" and "pulley".

I have the URL's of several Mercedes tuners. If you want them, let me know and I'll post them. Mr. Vanos and some of the moderators are with Evosport. I'm sure they will be happy to help you also. http://evosport.com/home.html

BTW, the chips work at all speeds. If your friend is chipping cars commericially, we would like to know more.

Welcome,
If you are worried about warranty then leave the car stock.

The Upsolete chip looks interesting, 30 hp for only $400. the question is, can you restore your car back to normal?. Has any member of the forum tryed the chip?.

Im not really worried about it, but it does not hurt to know.

I just don't see how you can compare the two. The chip at best gets you 10HP (forget the 30HP at 120mph, it's not practical HP). I does so by altering ignition timing, moving up the redline, altering shift points for the automatic and basically tweaking the computer to allow the car to hit higher than it's engineered limits. To me this sounds pretty dangerous and if you have a warranttee problem I have a good feeling that they would be able to pull the ECU and see that it was modified and resoldered, even if you put it back to normal unless you buy a very expensive second ECU. Also what if static discharge while removing the chip half fries another chip and it fails 3 months later, who's gonna pay for that.
?... damn..I have so many questions inside of my head now..

Upsolute will change the chip back to the stock program free of charge. They are working on a chip which is switchable between stock and modified programs using a key fob type of device. Two of our members went to an event put on by an Upsolute rep in NJ. One of them will have the chip soon. He will be posting before and after dyno runs.

They can modify the chip, but it will cost $100 to write the new file. They said it usually isn't necessary, unless you make a really large change.
