the illuminated sills are cool. mine havent gotten old. though ive only had my car almost 3 months. there is always the wow factor from those who see them, from getting in your car or walking by at night. its hard to miss them. heres a pic of mine. its a coupe but you the idea. they are a dealer installed item. the may do some at the port of entry but im not sure. anyways, the bi-xenons are cool too. good choice!

Is the leather worth it?
You MUST mean is FULL leather worth it, because of course - the C230K Sport Sedan comes with leather (inserts).
I do not have the full leather, and am pleased to no end w/ the leather inserts only. Full leather would be nice, but its not a "must do."
I think the door sills would be great. Get 'em.
Looks like a nice plan.

its hard to tell the difference between the mb-tex and the leather especially to those who dont know the difference. its all up to you and whether you want spend the money for full leather or spend it other options or save it.

Like you, I was thinking about getting full leather at first (not the best quality or the softest leather), I got Bose & CD Changer instead.

my friends and i have a saying "ABO" which means "all ***** out" but im still a student and i want to have a social life instead of working to make enough ends to have the car and feed myself
with leather the MSRP is 36,175....i dont need the bose nor the cd changer cuz im goin with the euro COMAND from steve, i was kinda hesitant on the auto tranny also but i live in so cali, and traffic sucks, and we all get lazy sometimes.......so if it seems that you guys are happy with the leather inserts i think i'll take leather off my list, you think since in special ordering the car i can get nappa leather?? dude thats the s**t!!!

If cost is a consideration I think that in Orange County heated seats are probably unnecessary - also, if you are going to be the only driver of the car, the C1 option wouldn't be at the top of my list (if you are going to share the car often with someone else I'd get them). Deleting these two options will save you almost $2000. I concur that the leather-inserts are sufficient, the remaining surfaces are MB-Tex which is a pretty good quality material (it will probably hold up better than real leather to boot).

in san diego heated seats werent necessary at all. the only reason id maybe like to have them is just so there arent so many blank buttons on the dash. id never use them.

I wasn't charged a special order fee. I wanted my car setup without compromise, since they weren't able to find one to spec they ordered it built. The downside is I have to wait, but atleast I'm getting exactly what I want. The car should have been built last week, now I'm waiting on the boat.
At least that's what the dealer is telling me...

There is no special order charge on the sport sedans. I thought this applied to more of the C-class models, but I looked at mbusa.com and they had SPC for coupes and for C240's. That's all I tried, but there was no charge for C230 or C320 sport sedans. I guess that makes them an even better value than they already were.

It wouldn't surpsrise me if this were another case of the website not being spot-on.

Mine was special ordered without special order charge, didn't even have to pay MSRP either.

I think people are having a hard time understanding what "special order" is...
Special order is NOT when you go in & order the car to your specs out of the standard option catalog (C2/C1/heated seats/etc.)...
Special order IS when you order up a car with some deviation from the standard option catalog - like paint or interior:
Here, read this from M-B site:
"...The Special Order Program allows users to "personalize" their vehicles with paint and upholstery not otherwise available in the U.S. standard program. For $1,150.00 (in addition to cost of metallic paint, if applicable) clients may order these special combinations. Special orders may require additional production time..."
Some members have confirmed this, but there still seems to be confusion.
You CAN order a C sedan with "special" paint & or interior like this BTW. It would just cost you.
I hope that clears a tad of the fog.

The rest of us were commenting on how some of the paint choices, for example Everest Green Metallic, incur the $1150 charge if ordered on a C320, but not on the C320 Sport, and how unlike MB it was to do this.

im not sure about other models. silver with ash interior i believe was SPC order and now is not available for the coupe or atleast last time i checked. my car which is citron with charcoal was SPC order charged. i agree that because you order a car specific to your needs you may not get the SPC charge tacked on. it does all depend on paint and interior config and the shows when u config a car on the build your own on the mbusa website.
