Oil On Top of Radiator Support

Looking for some advice or a clue to whaat might me the problem..

2005 C230K @ 48K miles

Last few times I looked under the hood, there has been just a little bit of oil on the top of the radiator support. The oil is visible along the entire top. There is also some on the hoodliner and under it when i pull the hoodliner down slighty.

I keep cleaning it off and cannot see anything obvious causing this to happen.

Has anyone else experienced this? What should I be looking for?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well...

Well, I am not sure why, but the hood insulation pad is oil soaked near the grill section where it closes along the radiator support. I degreased the engine area and replaced the hood insulation pad and clips.

Hoping it is just the residual oil that was leaking from the hood pad onto the radiator support where it makes contact.

My best guess is some noob tech left the oil cap loose or off at some point in the cars life. Causing the hood insulation pad to absorb oil and casue a leeching effect long after.

Yeah i had my oil cab left loose after an oil change. drove the car strait from the dealer on a 1500 mile road trip. pulling in to my garage after i smelled oil and was like wtf. opened the hood to find oil everywhere and the cover was soaked.
