Don't want to be an A$$. I say 2004. Reason = updated enginee. But of course some would say first year edition is not the best, then with that in mind 2007!!

Usually, the latter editions is better than the previous. Just to answer you question, I would say 2003, but then there are 7 years afterwards that has improved in enginee technology.

 

the reason I'm asking is because I just had an 03 c230k which was totaled and i'm looking at a 02 C230K that's for sale with about the same mileage as mine and it's also cheaper so I'm trying to decide if i should jump on it or not.

 

The 2003, 2004, and 2005 C230K cars have the same engine - the M271. The 2003 and 2004 cars have been known to have some head issues.

If you can swing it the best W203s are the 2005-2007 cars. The vast majority of the bugs were worked out by then. If not, I'd get a 2002. The M111 is a rough engine but is very tough and early M271s can be sketchy.

 

So 2001 & 2002 is a different enginee? Yea, I thought I read something about 2003-2005 has a quietier enginee than 2002 and previous.

Also 2006 is changed with a V6 enginee.

 

2002 = M111 2.3L Supercharged 4
2003-2005 = M271 1.8L Supercharged 4
2006-2007 = M272 2.5L V6

 

Oh by the way. That's not good news you just stated there .

I have a 2004 model.

Hmmz.. I wonder if I can trade that in for a 2005 or even 2006 (long shot).
