Fuel Door Lock
I have a 2006 C230 Sport (Post-Facelift). The car was bought used about a year ago and the gas door lock has never worked (permanently unlocked). I finally got around to trying to fix it today because I would really like this working again. I spent some time trying to figure out how it works but wasn't able to, so I just took a picture (attached below). A bit later I decided to check the fuses and realized that fuse 15 which controls the lock has been removed, presumably by the previous owner. I plan to replace it and see if it helps but I'm a bit hesitant because if it was completely removed, there might have been a reason for it (lock might not function at all?). In addition, I wasn't able to find the emergency release when I opened the side panel, and a lot of people report that they break off easily. If it broke off, then I do not want to reactivate it and risk having it permanently lock. From the picture I've posted, does anything seem wrong?

I'm hoping that that's all there is to it, but I'm a bit concerned that I'm unable to find the emergency release, which could be part of a bigger problem.

Alright, so I tried changing the fuse today to no avail. After checking again, it seems that there's an electrical connector at the bottom of the mechanism that I have pictured in my first post, but there's nothing attached to it.
In the meantime, does anyone know where I can get a locking fuel cap that will fit my model car while I get this sorted out? I've looked everywhere, but just can't find one...

I have always worried about it not unlocking. The tab was bent on my car (and several others have reported the same thing) but I've bent it back. I really don't see the locking fuel door as a necessity - my car stays garaged and I don't know of anyone at all who has ever had their car tampered with. I really think it is more of a paranoia thing - if someone pours something in the fuel tank, insurance would cover it.
