Question W124 wheel fitment question

I need help with some tire and wheel fitment questions.

Will the 16" ET37 wheels of a W203 fit on either an 84 300D or an 87 300E? What about the bolts that came with these wheels? The tires are 205/55-16s.

Thanx for your help.

Well, for starters, the '84 is the W123 body, and the '87 is a W124.

By '84, OEM was 195/70x14 for the W123 [very early 123 diesels were 175/80x14s and 185/80x14s, depending on model, but as the line progressed through its production run, the lower profile was used].... for the '87 it is 196/65x15. Certainly in the latter case, rolling diameter will be nearly identical. It's offset that is the question; I THINK the W124 sedan used a 37mm offset, but I wouldn't swear to that. I'll do some poking around and see what I can find out...

Well, after some research, it appears that for the W124-bodied Es [in our market, 1986-1995], anything from 35-38mm will fit, which implies to me that the wheel bolts should be fine, as well.

For a W123 body [in our market, 1977-1985], the only site I could find was recommending a replica 16" that had a 25mm offset. Draw whatever conclusions you want from that.

In any case, it seems to me that your rolling diameter should be spot-on for any W124. Offset appears to be correct at 37mm.

Now, pray tell, just what did you have in mind??

John,

Thanx for your help. I went by the forum choices (which included '84) when I listed W124.

You also have PM.
