Changing settings in DAS

I just dropped off my car at the dealer for its 30k mile service and took along instructions from this forum on how to have them remove the "NO PHONE" message & enable tunnel mode. I was happy to see that they had no problems doing this (as other on the forum have apparently had dealers that wouldn't make these changes) and they said it would be a $75.00 charge. I was wondering for others that have had one or both done: Was it free for you? Or what did your dealer charge to make these changes? Thanks!

I had the NO PHONE message removed, the NAV set to present, the tunnel mode enabled and the speed sensitive volume control adjusted while in for service A a couple of weeks ago. The cost of these DAS adjustments was $0.00.

The 2002 C class brochures and spec page at MBUSA.com both said the car had tunnel mode. Since it is not functioning according to the information MBUSA provided about the car, it is warranty work to fix it. You shouldn't be charged for it.

No charge, done during A-service. Remove the "NO PHONE" message, that is. They couldn't handle the tunnel mode feature...

I'm looking for another dealer in the northern NJ area.

Thankfully I ended up getting it done free too! Just turned out I needed to speak with the head service manager instead of the service advisor at the desk. The top guy was willing to make the customer happy!

useless feature that enables you to close all windows & sunroof by holding the recirc button.

I never use it....(not many tunnels in Houston...hehehe)

I used to live in a house where the garbage men were only supposed to pick up a single trash can.

Whenever I had any excess trash, a 6-pack of Bud would ensure the other garbage disappered as well.

I agree that "Tunnel Mode" is pretty useless as designed (unless you live in Switzerland) but it's great as an "auto-close" feature once you have the dealer enable the pano roof close.

Now after you're parked, you no longer have to sit there with a finger at the roof console holding the "close button" until the roof closes. As you pull into the parking lot you simply press and hold the recirc button and the roof begins to close. As it closes, you can even turn off the ignition and it will continue to close. Very cool.

Funny, they never complained . They came pretty early in the morning, so maybe it never warmed up enough to be a problem.
