Looking to sell my W203. Whats it worth?
I have a 2005 C240 4Matic. Has 66,000 miles on it. Grey Metalic on black. Heated seats, climate control, 4Matic, sunshade,CD Changer, full records, great condition. What is she worth to sell private party?
I am looking to replace it with a CLK.

that is not even close. Try $13k or so, if you're lucky.
The C-class might have cut it for you had you chosen a higher level version. If you had to have 4Matic, you could've done C280. If 4Matic wasn't necessary the Sport cars are vastly superior.. at least that's my opinion.

Nate that's too high, too, unless we're talking dealer retail. These cars just don't have that much value anymore. The C55 can be had for low 20s, even with reasonable miles.

$13k? What are you talking about? Maybe where you live or something. I live in upstate NY where every MB is 4Matic. Our MB dealer sells them for $22k CPO so there is no reason why I cant get around 17 if I put it on craigslist.

You can land a C55 for $22k if you shop around. And you want us to believe that anyone pays $22k for a C240? As I said, go ahead and try but I'm going to say you'll get $13-14k max. The $17 figure from KBB must've been dealer retail.
Here is the True Market Value report from Edmunds:
The bold, italic, and underlined number of $12,437 is what you can expect selling the car private party. I moved the condition up to "outstanding" (the highest/best possible) and it made it $13,332. CPO value according to this is $16,456 so I don't know where any dealer comes up with $22k. I suspect you pulled that one out of your ***... Actually, I can do one better with this link that proves you are either lying or not doing your homework:
Click here ---->A 2005 C240 4Matic with 66k miles for sale in your town now for $15,334 from a Benz dealer
So... allow me to now ask you -- what are YOU talking about? Yet another person to come on this forum, pose a question, get pissed at the facts/reality and act like we're the stupid ones for knowing better. Once again - If you find a really, really big idiot you might get $14,000. Otherwise, as I said to you from the beginning, expect $13,000 or so.

And again we have C240 4Matic's for sale up here with prices on them for $16k+. Doubt me all you want I dont care. But lets face it. Its worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it. Getting pissed?? LOL. Whos getting pissed? Im not..Are you? And no I didnt lie or pull it out of anywhere. I have been a MB owner since 1980 and my dad was the one who put our independant MB shop in buisness so I do know a thing or 2 here lol.

Not too long ago dealers in NY where selling them CPO for 22k. And I am not talking about years ago. I am talking monthes ago. But then again thats what they listed it for. Other dealers in NY have C240, C320's sellng for 20k. Not uncommon to see MB dealers mark up like that. I dont no if they got their price or not. If I was to put it up on Craigslist right now. I would list it for $17,000. This was it allows people to jiggle the price around alittle bit. Lets say a person offers like $16,000 or 16.5k. I would take that no problem. You have to remember where not in the south and AMG's dont sell up here or other RWD drive MB's. Its like all 4Matic up here so the demand and prices are differant.

I'm not disputing the value of 4Matic. I'm saying that I did some research to make sure my guess of $13k was not too far off. I looked at dealers. $15-16k CPO. You are NOT going to get that as a private seller, end of story.
Basically - you asked what your car was worth. The answer is "between $12,437 and $13,332". I'm sorry if that is not to your liking. That is the market value based on what others are actually paying for your car in your area. You are free to ask $375,995 for it if you wish. My point is that you should be prepared to accept an reasonable offer of $13,000. Anyone who does their homework is going to see the exact same thing I did.

And I did research as well. Take a look. Prices are all over the place. You got prices ranging from 13-20+ You dont know what the hell you will get until you try it. So it all goes back to what I said before. Its worth what someone will pay lol

And according to KBB here is the value. http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/mercede...&mileage=66000
And thats why if someone offered $16k I would take it. I dont think its out of the ballpark. And again if I do decide to sell it. The money will talk as we all know and I would let you know what someone paid for it. Not trying to drag this one forever but I am showing you the prices for this area.

KBB is unreliable. You are right that those prices are all over the map, but the safe bet on them is that they have ridiculous mark-up.
Good luck with the sale and post up what you get. I'm interested to hear this one.

Ill keep you updated. Still not 100% on selling it yet. Just juggling the idea around still.

i suggest you take a look in the classified section, you have plenty of 5 pages threads (edit: with prices starting at 20k, owners unhappy with "expensive" comments, and asking 15k few months later...)
AMG's being sold for a little more than 10k...
w209 Brabus CLK 55 AMG for 16.5k, what a shame...
so 13-14k is very reasonnable...

I'll give my honest opinion on it, not a slam or a rant.
But I wouldn't pay 16-17k for a bottom of the barrel C240 private party. Also, you have high mileage (more than 12,000/year) to be asking for premium money.

Yes you are correct, sad when I see the prices on the C55. Two years ago I paid 22K for me car. Oh well I love my car, next time I should be able to snag a AMG.

Again everyone we will see. Not betting my life on but money talks and will keep everyone updated. Not saying I will get that price but after looking on the link I provided asking 16k is not out of ballpark range lol

Except that you're comparing your car to an AMG. The second part is that it's a rare car that's hard to find, so yes if it's the right buyer they will pay. C-class 4matics are easy to find.....

$18k for a W202 AMG is overpriced. It is a W202 no matter how you cut it. Unless it was a special order car that was in a showroom with super low miles or something of that nature no w202 is worth 18k. Ehh I would not say its a rare car thats all that hard to find. Its not a run of mill car either. It really depends on your location. Up here I know 5 people who have C43's and we live in a snow belt.
