W230 is SL-class. W203 is our generation of C-class sedan,... CL203 is our generation of C-class coupe.

On my old Honda Civic, starter was clearly visible from the top right behind the engine,... but it wouldn't come out that way! Fuel injection system in the way. The only way to remove and replace that starter was from the bottom,... put car up on ramps (or stands supporting axle) and then jack up front driver side body so there's more room to wriggle and drop the starter between control arm, drive shaft and back of engine compartment.

Do you have photos of the starter on the car from top and bottom of engine compartment.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
The problem is reconnecting the wires.
Getting it out was a beeetch, I unbolted the
selenoid, and fished it out.

At this point, I'm not even sure which wires go where,
but truth be told, I haven't been back under the car for more than a week.

I started removing the intake, and may still do it,
but I got hung up, when when I realized I had to disconnected the fuel line etc.
and it's full of fuel.

My GF has been driving me around and seems to like it that way,
she has total control of where I go, and when.
She's driving me crazy. Never have a minute alone except at work,
and she hangs around all day waiting for, and creates drama at home and prevents me
from working on the car. There's no escape from her.

Funny enough, reading this was all sounding very familiar, mine did exactly the same thing last week, had our version of your MB roadside assistance out to it, he thought starter motor, had it taken into the stealership, cause it was still under used car warranty from the dealer i bought it (not MB) ... and that would cover starter motor, anyway, when they'd had it a couple of days, re-run all the tests, they found a loose wire on the starter solenoid ..... doh! no failure no foul, no warranty cover ... bugger, they were too good, many other places i know would have just swapped out the starter ! and with the size of engine in mine, no way i could see or get down to that !

That's a hard wire to reach with your hands.
