M111 Supercharger Transplant

Hi guys,

I have a M111.960 (2.2L NA) engine and was wondering if a supercharger from a Kompressor C class would directly fit onto it without problems?

The car is a 1994 124 Coupe (E220C)

Your engine is different though.
My question was more revolving around the idea of if a supercharger kit from a C230K would just bolt onto my engine seeing as they are both M111 engines.
In your case it most definitely would not, not to mention the supercharger may be too small for a 2.8L

oh i know i completely understand what your talking about and i think it should be a direct bolt on and would work in your case. check ebay or something like that for a used supercharger or go to a few junkyards or impound lots and see if you can find a 230k (maybe even online for salvaged title cars) and make them an offer on one. its weird the 2006 c280 isnt a 2.8l either is a 3.0.. same engine as the newer c300's. anyway, good luck it shouldn't be too hard to get your hands on one.

In theory, you could bolt on the supercharger, if you get the required pistons, supercharger pulley and belt, etc. You would be better off buying a used engine m111.944 or similar.

C230 komp Manual (rhd)
There is a lot of differences between the early 2.2 m111 engine and the 2.3 komp.
Both use different management.
The 2.2 is das 2 and the 2.3 is das 3.
The supercharger on a 97-2000 M111 has a clutched pulley which works inline with the Cam advancement all through the CAN network.
An early management sytem DAS 2 does not have an extensive can network.
To get the 2.2 to work as Merc intended it to on a 2.3 would be very hard work.

You could bolt on the charger to the early system although you would have to work out a method to close loop the boost and dump off the excess.

TBH you would be better off running an aftermarket turbo system.

A friend of mine has a '96 C220 and unrestricted it has 170bhp.
The C230k >97 will only have 199 bhp unrestricted although the low down acceleration is better, the hassle of getting the supercharger to work on a 2.2 M111 for an extra 30bhp isnt really worth it. Hence why a Turbo system which is tuneable would be much more beneficial for monies!
