Maverik's ride through time...

A bit late I suppose. I've been wanting to do this for some time but keep forgetting too. I'm gonna try and round of pics of everything I've done so far but I may have to just take pics of what of done after the fact lol...

Well to start it off I've got some pics after I just buffed and waxed with some carnuba wax as well as compounded and sealed my hood due to the new paint job I have on it due to some clear coat flaking i had a few months back.

Pre-Mod phase: Some before shots!

Of course not shown in these pics is the stock chrome grill that was on the car when I bought it (so I suppose phase 1 is tech my grille haha as well as the flat hood badge from that one vendor on here, I'm rocking #303).

Phase 1: RIMS

The christmas after I bought the car back in August 2008 I decided the first and arguably most important add were rims. So I found a used set of 19" TWS Snetterton's wrapped in Toyo T1R's. 225/30/19 and 275/35/19...

The toyos are all gone now with the backs falling apart due to bad alignment w/in the first 6 months of having them on. Then I switched to nitto NT555 last summer. And of course just a few months ago my passenger side rear Nitto blew on the highway after about 10 months of use. Still working with them to get a refund due to no cause for the blow out being found by the tire shop that replaced it. Then 3 weeks ago I got a bubble in the driverside front toyo and repleced both of them with 235/35/19 Hankook Ventus V12. So far so good.

Phase II: NEW ROTORS/PADS AND PAINTED CALIPERS

As you can see in some of my previous photos I was passing back and forth the notion of finding some AMG ones or just powdercoating my current ones. However, when money become the highlighted issue I decided to attempt this myself and hopped up to the local discount auto and bought some gold high temp engine paint, clear coat, bulldog clear spray paint adhesive and ordered some red brembo decals off eBay. Took the better part of an evening and overnight hopped up on jacks to fully dry etc before I could put the decals on but i was going for the g35/350z brembo kit. Turned out pretty good IMO. Plus only cost me about $30 total plus time and cost of MUCHO CERVEZA!!!! Also got the rotors from R1 concepts x-drilled in both front and rear and have akebono ceramic in the rear and some other ceramic for the front. Originally bought Hawk but they were designed for non sport calipers but were listed for my vehicle (who knows), so i ended up going with some "top line" ceramics from the local auto shop.

Phase III: OEM BIXENON'S!!!

By far the 2nd best of not best mod I've dont to my girl. Added about 6 months after getting her. Bought one head light at a time so they're actually different. I think one is European because my passenger side has a line cut through the middle to separate from brights and regular beam as well as the shroud has a ton of the tiny chrome strips under neath the projector while the driver side doesn't have the line across the middle nor as many of the chrome lines etc. Nonetheless I'm running 6000k Phillips Ultinon D2S bulbs and LED city lights from AZN optics

PHASE IV: TINTED TAILS

Got some of that tinted vinyl off eBay about 4 months ago and took it to a tint place and had them put it on. Apparently it was some higher quality stuff than they expected because they "guaranteed" me it would rip when putting on but i guess I got the last laugh.

PHASE V: ILLUMINATED DOOR SILLS

My moms g37 has em stock and my dad's jaguar and I've just always loved the look of the light glow at night when the door opens so I just had to get em! lol

Ripped apart and wired them up myself. Had some slight complications with my passenger side not wanted to light up despite being wired exactly the same as every other door and then all my auto down feature of my windows no longer worked...however like the magic that our vehicles bring with them from time to time they just started working, go figure...but love them and they look great. Although my driverside stopped coming on last week and i've just been hesitant to take apart the frame to find out why.

So if its stuck on top of the old sill, how did you wire it?

Drill a hole through the sill, plastic casing and then the body? Definitely one of my future mods!

no drilling etc...however, to be honest I dont entirely remmber exactly where the wire went...i think it just tucks underneath the door sill because u do have to remove it to wire the lights up. They attach to the door button thing that tells the car when the doors are open etc.

PHASE VI: AMG STYLE SPOILER FROM eBay

Again had some tossing and turning over whether or not to go the cf route or stick body color but again money became the deciding factor and I decided to go with body color. The only down fall is that the paint job wasn't the best in the world and I dont think they sealed it very well because simply pulling it out of the box and then unwrapping the celphane from it and setting it bak on the carboard box where I was then going to add the 3m tape it got all scratched up. Needless to say I wasn't too happy but again it was minor and I just wanted to attach it. Got some automotive slim 3m double sided tape from the autozone and threw as much on the under side as possible. Then tood some windex wipes and cleaned the surface of the trunk religously. Then i wiped down with mico towel, ligned up the spoiler, and pressed down putting all of my 225 lbs into it for about 2-3 minutes. Luckily it was the middle of summer so the surface of the car was warm and im sure aided in the attaching process. But a great mod to say the least. I do plan on switching over to a cf spoiler at some point as I've started getting spider cracks in the pain etc. But it still looks great and blends perfectly into all the scratches I already have acquired on my trunk lol. Plus it looks seemless and I've had it on for 2 years now with several 900+ mile trips (florida-maryland) and it has never come off or shown signs of peeling. That 3m is a great product.

I also plan on moving to the cf look b/c I already have a cf diffuser which I have yet to install and I was thinking about adding a rear window spoiler in cf too and I dont want to mix and match b/n cf and body color.

PHASE VII: LED LICENSE PLATE BULBS

Been through the ringer with these like many of you. Have used around 3 different sets of normal LED feestoons with resistors etc and all have either died or burned up along the way. Then I ordered fixtures from JBspeed only to get the wrong ones sent to me and then have to send them back.

Then my boy 97w202 told me about sonic tuning (which luckily for me is located down the street) and i ordered a set of fixtures from them. Got here in about 3 days or so and then I installed them and they came out great. Unfortunately the driverside doesnt work all to well but I'm talking with them about it being replaced.

Go figure its only the driver side that keeps failing me but I've plugged both plugs into the non-working fixture and neither plugs work in it while both plugs work fine with the working fixture so I know its gotta be the firxture itself ( i hope).

Looking real good! Where did you get the sills from? I was going to purchase the set from formymercedes.com but wasn't sure.
