MB brake fluid
Does anyone have the specifications on the MB OEM brake fluid?
I'm trying to decide if I want to change it with ATE SL6 or BRF, the only thing holding me back are the viscosity numbers which are 700mm^2/s and 1400 respectively.
If I pick viscosity thats too high the ESP system wont work right (with a 4matic its more critical then in other cars). If too low it might comprise seals.
Also if the MB oem fluid is better then either, I will just buy that.

Kind of. MB lists low viscosity fluid required but don't give numbers
I found this
http://www.pentosin.net/pressrelease...uperDOT4_3.pdf
Its listed as being a replacement for MB# 000 989 08 07 10 which is our brake fluid. But the pentosin has super dot 4 at 1400 mm^2/s. If I was going with that viscosity I could use and off the shelf fluid. The pentosin low viscosity fluid (@-40*C) is at 700mm^2/s and is not MB approved. So Maybe MB calling their fluid low viscosity is just a marketing scheme? If I could get the numbers I would know.

I have a can of the pentosin super dot 4 because it specifically lists the MB part number. The pentosin dot 4 LV does not, but I think some people use it anyway.

The answers on this thread are a bit surprising. I've been looking into this, myself. I thought I knew that ATE SL.6 was the easy answer other than brake fluid from the dealer. Until this thread, I had never heard of pentosin or RF-650!

I bought brake fluid from the dealer...the bottle has MB sticker on it. I expected it to be 'made in Germany' but it's actually made by some company in USA that I never heard of(not pentosin either). So, I guess as long as you do the flush...it doesn't matter what brand you use, just make sure it is a DOT 4+

I'll prob just go with the MB fluid, its really high value considering the price and performance aspects. (also the piece of mind that comes along with OEM materials doesn't hurt)
