CrankShaft pully?
Seems like the pully is cracking or something. I think its been like this for a while but i just really looked at it today.

There was a recall on M112 engine's harmonic balancer on W163 and it is a well-known problem on W163. If I am not mistaken your W203 (M112) shares has the same engine as ML.
I am NOT sure whether there are any recalls on harmonic balancer on W203 (M112).

Ill go to the dealer and ask them about it.. There better be lol. I was checking it out and the parts only 90 bucks so its not that bad.
Replacement of that harmonic balancer is relatively easy by taking out the belt and then the big bolt in the middle of the balancer. Part is also not that bad (less than $100).
Make sure you torque that bolt to the correct spec.

No W203 was subject to the 360,000+ vehicle Service Campaign (recall), although some were replaced under the auspices of goodwill.
Xhale707’s does look a bit tired. Pitched mine a while ago for evosport’s ODPS. For safety’s sake.

I wonder why 203 model is not listed while M112 is in some of the 203 model as well.
From my experience with ML (W163), I check on the harmonic balancer every time I open the hood.

Wow wow i may head to my dealer with that letter and see if i can get some lee way. I remember someone saying they took there car in and they only had to pay for labor which is still the same price as the part lol. But you never know.. If it was an issue i don't see for them NOT to fix it
That seems like a really good way to break your hand too.Is there a way to hold the flywheel with a screwdriver by removing a splash shield on these cars? Either that or a piston stop in the spark plug hole is how I do it on small block Chevys.

time to add this to my list of things to replace.
