They replace the whole molding where the sidemarker is and replace it with one where there's no sidemarker.
Heres a pic:

Here is Rollnnn's car with European Impact Strips. Your car (C55) has the CLK front end so I do not know if it's the same as yours. Might want to confirm that. But I feel it makes the car look much better

It looks much "smoother" with the Euro Impact strips. To the OP what color is your car?

wow, you can't even see them. i wish i could see an even closer picture of how it's done. i'd take a pair in black if the seller would contact me. i think the OP should do these too.

What do you mean how it done? It's a completely new molded impact strip w/o the side marker.

The thing is, they only come in matte black so you'd need to paint it yourself. But as the other guy said, it's a solid strip with no sidemarker trim.

How do you get this past safety inspection? I have the European on mine as well and had to purchase the US version before the inspection station would pass me. US DOT requires side marker amber in front and red in rear to pass. Any thoughts as I am tired of changing the damned thing out and being in the US I like the European look better..

What do you do with the side marker bulbs in US spec cars after you change to the Euro impact strip?

Either wrap them in foil and find somewhere to put it inside the bumper, or take them out and disable the bulb via STAR diagnostic so you don't get the error code popping up.
