Is this sound normal?

Recently, I noticed there's a very tiny sound coming from somewhere in the center console. I have to turn off the A/C and radio in order to hear it. It's not really a rattle. Very tiny sound, like cheap plastic in some car at cold temperature. Like a very small sound over bumps.

Have any of you guys experienced this? I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, 'cause recently, my dealer had to remove my center console to do some work. I don't know if it's because of that, or I just never noticed it before.

Thanks,
Hugh.

Hi, you are not alone.

I have the same noise in my car. To describe it, it's a rustling sound as if you are running your thumb through the edge of a 2" rim of paper. It's coming somewhere from the climatronic panel/ashtray area. No matter how you push the trims of the center console when the noise arise, that noise doesn't go away!! I have tried silicone spray on the edges but to no avail. Guess it could well be the paper labelling of the cables touching certain parts of the center console.

Have attached a pic and you may see the 'labels' marked with an "A". Even though the sound is driving me mad, I am still pondering whether to remove the trim panel for fear I might scratch or break something in the course of doing it. These are certainly minor annoyances that could well spoil your day.

Thanks a lot terrylow. I'll wait and see if that noise really gets to me and maybe try to use your advise or something.
