BiXenon aim

I haven't looked yet and figured I'd poll the crowd. Factory delivered bixenons: can they be adjusted for height manually or is it all electronic and tied to the self-leveling circuit?

I find that they are overly low compared to my M3 and my former HID kit on standard lamps. I know the former lamps were not true projectors, but they had a clean cutoff and I never got flashed from oncoming cars, yet they outdistanced the bixenons by about 1/2 block.

Thanks for any adjusting tips/info in advance.

Yes, they can be adjusted manually for the height as well as left/right. Open the hood, there is a knob on the side of the assembly to adjust the height. And look a few inches down, there is another knob to adjust left/right. Do a search in here, someone has posted a more detail explanation.

Sorry - let me add to the question.. I figured that the height adjuster was the same halogen or xenon - but if I adjust the assembly up, will the self-leveling undo what i did? or is that a new basis for the height.

I ask because I'd rather not monkey it up. Did that once already (DOH).

thanks

If you adjust it manually, the self-leveling will NOT undo what you did. I am pretty sure about it, otherwise, there will be no point for us to adjust it manually, right?

As usual, Dr. Harris is correct.
The BiXenon adjustment screws are adjustable "set points" for "zero-ing" the lamps.

If an automatic self-leveling system is present, it works "off" of the manual zero setpoint. The auto-leveling system is "stupid" it just goes higher or lower, it has no clue "where it is" in relation to "level" But beware that the manual setpoint is obviously set at the factory for somewhere in the mid-range of screw adjustment. If you need to make gross adjustments you should look to where the real problem is and correct that. (Possible other adjustment locations are the lamp mounts themselves and the swaybar level sensor).

On the other hand, it is fine to make smaller tweaks of the lamps that are just a little too low on the manual screws, that is what they are there for.

yes...as far as your euro bi xenons go...no for wher it concerns US spec bi xenons...US spec bi xenons can only be adjusted in height...not in left/right. The left/right adjustment is covered on US spec headlights and is not supposed to be used (it really is of no use to adjust it anyways due to the design of the lightpattern eventhough sone people think they need to adjust it anyways...).
