It's a german in-dash GPS Navigation system - no map display, just arrows, distance indicators, and voice instructions turn-by-turn. Audi has a similar system.
I prefer a COMAND-style nav system but you can say the above is less distracting.

audi uses the trip computer screen (the tiny one in the dash with the gauges). It does have minimal graphics. This unit i guess does the same thing but in a sepeate unit in dash HU. I dont see how that can be very effective.

Look under

Traffic Pro
you will see the similar 4720
This thing would be plenty for my needs.
Careful the ebay one could be all-german though.

The Becker Audio 30 APS will absolutely, positively NOT work in North America. There are no North American cd-rom's for it.
HarmanKardon sells the very similarTrafficPro, but it is the standard DIN size and of course cannot be connected to CANBUS or D2B. Therefore, the steering wheel buttons and dash display won't work nor can the factory changer be used.
The HK TrafficPro cd-rom's will not work in the Audio 30 APS. I contacted HK customer service about this many months ago
