I had offers from two dealers on a red and also a black C230K coupe two weeks ago when I bought my car, both at $24,500. Both had these same options as the eBay car, including the leather seats.
I went in wanting only Orion Blue and an automatic. I told them everything else was NOT wanted. The only thing I paid full price for was the metallic paint, all other options were at less than half price, starting at a base price of $21,900 for the coupe with automatic and non metallic paint. Mine had 16.6 miles on it.
So far Fletcher Jones salesman Ramin has sent me a free car blanket, and today I got a 11x14 signature portrait gift supposedly worth $495.

I was looking through their inventory and saw the coupes.... and for some reason it seemed odd. Thanks lynn.... it makes sense what you are talking about. I just expected higher mileage on most of them.......... any downsides to buying online? etc?

You might not get the same type of service from your stealer since they didn't make the money. Remember: 7% markup, 3% hold back, $4000 kick back for demo service, up to 2% additional if you fill out the survey to their liking, rebates, etc.

Nah... i like my sedan just fine. I am actually looking at this.....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10156
The closest porsche dealer has already made it clear to me that they will not reduce sticker price at all. I guess porsche is a buy it or leave it kind of car. That's why this looks good..... low mileage... same as new etc... and a LOT less than sticker. Have you guys ever heard of anyone buying a porsche less than sticker?
I will check tommorow if I am allowed to buy an extended warranty through porsche on this.

The car was most likely purchased to be used as a 'loaner'.
I picked up my 2003 C320 Coupe from our local dealer for 25k. The car had 30 miles on it and 5 of those were from me doing a test drive and the other 25 were from other test drives. This was the only pewter Coupe they had and alot of people wanted to get this color. The car's MSRP was for 33k. The dealer bought them under the loaner car program from MB and turned around and sold the extras. They sold the car to me as a Alternate Transportation Vehicle. Since it was sold as 'used' I lost about one week of the new car warranty. Outside of that there is no difference, aside from the slight price discount. The dealer had 6 of them in stock and my mother-in-law came down and got one too. By the time that we were done purchasing our two cars they had only 2 blue ones left. So basically 4 of them were sold in two hours time. I know that the dealer also sold 11 C230 Coupes under this plan the week before.

thanks for the info!
now i am worried due to fact that if these cars were used as loaners... and have 500 miles on them, I wonder how they were treated etc. IOW..... might be too good of a deal because I will be inheriting problems from everyone abusing it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I would actually feel a little more comfortable buying a Porsche than something like a Corvette. The rich people seem to baby their cars and buy them more for the image than the speed. Do you plan to keep it past the warranty period? Either way, they should be pretty tough.
I know one guy who inherited a bunch of money, never worked a day in his life. And he just bought an SL55, but I don't think he ever drives fast, not even over the speed limit at all. Now that's just a waste. He could take my coupe if he wants to drive the speed limit. I'll drive the SL55.

I've been there before, and it sucks. I went almost 2 years with 10 points, trying so hard not to get another ticket. Now I have 0 points, and I drive faster, but I still get worried about cops that could be around the next corner. I got too used to watching out for them that I can't get over it and just drive.

I got one of these "used" C coupe as well but I got a new car registration and title.
Depending on which state you are in, your car may still be considered new. State laws usually allow dealer to "buy" the car from maunfacturer or another dealer without registering it.
Usual industry practice is for dealer to pay car manufacturer after the car is sold (so MBUSA finances the dealer's order until the car is moved off the lot and the loan is repaid). In the case of the C Coupe promotion, MBUSA required the dealer to take the title of the car so they had to pay MBUSA up front in order to take the $4000 dealer rebate. But since most state laws view this as a dealer transaction, no registration is required so when you buy the car, you are the first registered owner.
In effect, this car is only "used" in the eyes of MBUSA only. Most state DMV willl accept this sale as "new".

"I doubt that Porsche has a similar loaner program."
I don't know whether Porsche itself has a loaner program but there's a new dealer opening soon in Atlanta (Hennessy Porsche) advertising Porsche loaners. You probably have to buy your car from them to be eligible but that's a lot better deal than when I owned my Porsches in the Eighties and Nineties, when you got nothing.

Yeah, some Porsche dealers might have loaner programs. I just don't think that Porsche would have the same crazy plan as MB where you sell cars to the dealers for $4000 off to be used as loaners, but then say that they can retail them at this discount just to pump up sales numbers. If you want to move cars, why not just offer this discount and sell them regularly.
