The number I heard about the output of the US C180K was 178 HP I don't remember the torque figure.

They must be trying to compete with the Audi and Volkswagon 1.8 turbo. Those motors sound great, put out great power and in the largest car they put it in, the Passat, it does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. If they can get the same performance numbers as the Audi 1.8 then it will be a success.

Sorry to spoil the fun but my sources say this is not true for North America. The C230K is unchanged for 2003 except for some new exterior trim and wheel options. A slight performance increase is being considered mid-year.

What source did you get it from? I might get a C230K this December or early 2003. I'd be disapointed if the price raises or downgraded the engine for 2003.

I have a coupel of reviews from England in which they slam the C180 coupe but rate the c230. I find it hard to believe that they would bring this car to the US when it lacks power.

"As it lacks the saloon's six-cylinder engines, you get to choose between three four-cylinder petrol motors (two supercharged) and one turbodiesel. All cruise adequately but the smallest petrol engine and the diesel need to be worked too hard for quick overtaking. The best is the 2.3K if you match it to an auto box, rather than the standard manual."

I don't dislike the C Coupe, I just have a problem with Mercedes selling a car that looks extremely close to the C Coupe for almost double the price, lol.

Based upon these "changes" when do you think would be the ultimate latest time this year to order the C230 with the original 192 hp engine. Time may be running out for us.

I think that cars ordered for June delivery will be the last ones. Some of you need to order quickly.

Yikes, I will be cutting it close. My current lease is up in June. I definitely want the higher HP engine.
