Helpful advice when you lock your key in the trunk.

So today I came home and drove the car into the yard and locked it and went inside as I usually do, but then I realized I left some jumper cables out and decided to put them back into the trunk. Heres where the problem came up, I had the key in my hand then I opened the trunk and dropped the key in there then put away the jumper cables and then I closed the trunk and walked away.. Then I was like wait... WTF my key and I began to panic and walk up and down.. Keep in mind it's like 17DEGREES outside so my dad used the old wire hanger and play to get it through the door jam and we get the door open and then I remebered damn the trunk switch won't work.. Heres the trick to it tho, if you press the cluster illumination stalk it unlocks all the doors and trunk.. Just thought i'd throw this up here if anyone does stuff like me lol.

This is all good if you still have the golf tee door locks levers, I eliminated mine to what the CLK uses so they are flush when locked to avoid the coat hanger trick so that I can leave my windows open somewhat in the summer and not worry about someone breaking in.

What is cluster illumination stalk?

I am sure you have some war wounds from the coat hanger now

No paint scratches whatsoever, I used a paper towel where the coat hanger would make contact with the paint.. The cluster illumination stalk is the thing you press to reset the trip mileage. It sticks out of the cluster.

That is what I thought it was, pressing that unlocks the doors?

What about locking and then unlocking by pressing the button in the center console?

That switch row unlocked the doors and nothing more, but the cluster illumination stalk sends power through the car and unlocks everything.

I won't lie i'm begining to fall in love with my W203 all over again lol
