Manual Reset of Check Engine Light (CEL) ???

Manual Reset of Check Engine Light (CEL) ???
I was stopped at an intersection a while back and accelerated too hard. The Check Engine Light immediately came on, which I assume to be from some raw fuel coming out the exhaust (or something like that).
I did the same thing on a Ford once and the CEL eventually went off. I'm not sure this light is going to reset itself.
The engine runs fine, but the CEL is staying on. Is there a manual way to reset the CEL, or do I gotta get one of those code thingys?
The archives did not seem to have anything specific on a reset of the CEL.
