8.5" et35 should fit IF the spoke doesn't hit the caliper (depends on the design)

9.5" you will need at least et35 to not rub on the inside. you will need a 5mm on the rear if you do get the et40 rear.

Frank ive been looking at these wheels for a while but im afraid to get them and not fit over the damn caliper, do you know if these will work or if i need spacers? or maybe i just need to ask for the offsets you listed above?

ask for the offsets that frank recommended and you should be fine. it all depends on the wheels but those offsets usually work well to have clearance for the calipers.

the link shows wheels for SL. they will not fit the W203 with those tires. however if they do have 30-35 offset wheels the design certainly looks like they should have no issue with the caliper.

So i could get the wheels in the right offset and they should fit, right? I called the company and asked them about it and they said the wheels would have no problem fitting over the caliper, but i always want to make sure with someone on the forum because i dont trust them, lol

BUT, i would need to get different tires, so i would need a shorter sidewall, correct?

with 18x8.5 fr and 18x9.5 you want to get 225/40/18 fr and 255/35/18 rr tires.

that'd be alot of tire and it'll probably rub. With 225/40 & 255/35 tire size, it'll be close to factory rotation, so the speedometer wont be too off. and its 225/45 and 245/40 for stock sizes for the 17x7.5 and 17x8.5. 225/40 & 255/35 is perfect size IMHO for 18x8.5 & 18x9.5

thanks for the help guys.

im still a bit confused about the 225 255 though, i thought those numbers were supposed to be width of tire, so if stock 17's at 7.5" have 225 tires, how does a 225 tire also fit on a 8.5" rim? sorry if this a noob question but i have to know.

225 is the width but if you look at the stock tires they bulge out some giving it a beefier look. You can have the same width tires on different width wheels and on tires you can go from 215-255 on 8.5 wheels it all depends on what you want. I'm running 215 on my 8.5 because I have a +20 offset on my wheels so it pokes the wheels out some, so I need to kinda stretch the tires so that it doesnt hit the fender, if I had 225 or 235 it would be hitting the fender when I go over dips. If you run 285 in the rear depending on your offset you might hit the inner strut as well and will be rubbing the inner fender well. It's all based on preference and what you are trying to accomplish. If you were using the wheels and tires for road course and time attack 255 would be a good option because you want as much rubber on the ground for grip.

just because its 225 doesnt mean it just fits 7.5 tires... it can fit 6-8 inch wheels, and maybe 9- 9.5 if you want that really stretched look.

heres a link from bridgestone on my tires the RE760 and it tells you the approx wheel width each tire can go to, these are just the recommended width but you can wider and use the tires but it'll give it a stretched look.

GO to the SPECS link
