Battery Indicator Light
Hello All:
2007 C2804matic 48K miles in service 8/06 (out of MFR warranty - but have extended). It was 7 degrees F this morning and it started but ran at 4K rpm for a 10 - 20 seconds. I tapped the gas a few times and it kicked in. I had a message and The battery dash indicator was lit (picture of a red battery). After reading up on battery issues here, I was prepared to call roadside assistance and have a new battery installed.
It sat for 2 hrs and started right up. No dash indicator.
Do I need a battery or can we blame the temp?
Thanks
Jim

Likely what happened is that the battery is on the borderline to start with, during the process of starting the car, the battery went below the threshold. That resulted in the warning on dashboard. As the engine continued to run, the alternator replenished the battery; as a result, the error message went away.
If I were you, I would take the car to any car parts place and have battery and alternator tested - LOAD tested. That will tell you if the battery and/or alternator is bad. Very likely, the battery is on it's last leg.
