Michelin Pilot Sports if you want the best. You get what you pay for. Don't be cheap with your tires, you will regret it. As an agressive driver, if Michelin's last you 12,000 miles, every other one won't last you that long.

It's not brainwashed my friend, it's experience. Over and over again. Just get the right ones for your car, and again don't be cheap, get the best, Michelin Pilot Sports.
By the way the Michelins XCX/APT on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. have 45,500 miles on them and are the original tires, I think we will get al least 75,000 miles out of them.:p

Thanks for your quick responses... No, I would NOT buy any tires from the dealer; I just wanted recommendations for new tires. I am an agressive driver..speed, stop, etc. I know it's not great for the car/tires, but I am impatient, especially with the drivers here. So any other recommendations for an aggressive driver? Thanks!

However, while the Yokohamas had great grip, I will never buy a tire with that tread pattern again. They were just too noisy on dry pavement; it was like listening to snow tires. They also seemed to be wearing significantly faster than the Michelins but I sold the car before finding out.

all-season tires are not necessarily better in wet than summer tires. michelin is simply expensive... had michelin pilot hx mxm (grand touring tires) on my wagon...quiet, but squealed like a pig and didn't have great grip and even more expensive than pilot sport. changed to pzero assym...soso...my size were prone to blowouts...straightline pretty good, handling ok, wet not so cool. changed to bridgestone s-02...loved them. they great in both wet and dry handling.
both the s-02 potenza pp on my wagon (front tires) and s-01 expedia on the c36 (rear tires) lasted around 20k miles. no rotation done throughout the 20k, so they're both on the drive tires. both cars have a ton more torque and hp than ur c230k...man, were u autocrossing? :p if u r looking into alignment problems, also make sure ur air pressure is correct...
btw, what size tires r u looking for?

I have Kumho Ecsta on my C240 now - they are running very well for now. I just drove from Phoenix to SF Bay Area to visit the parents - they were no louder than any other tire I have had on any other vehicle. Rained while I was at home during New Years and the tires handled well in the wet. So far, wear has even - have about 4000 miles on them - so, it may be too early to judge wear tendency. I had Conti SC on originally - I really liked them alot. I would have got them again if they were available - will look into the new Conti SC 2's the next time I need new tires. I am not all too aggressive - occasionally - but it seems that the tires we are all putting on our cars last about 12-15000 miles. I think that is the downside to higher performance tires - especially if the car is a daily driver. I think most of us do drive our cars alot - so tire wear will be generally higher. Anyways, I dont know if the higher temperature here in AZ, plus driving tendencies has a bigger factor in tire wear also. Since it is warmer all year long, one would think that tire wear for high performance tires would be greater. And with relatively no humidity in the air, tires may also wear down easier - just a thought, dont now the actual chemistry of it all. To me, get the best you can afford.

My car has been aligned since i changed rims, has actually been aligned with this set of tires on, and still the uneven wear.....i could be wrong, but i dont think its me, i think its the tires........next set of street tires will be Yokohamas i think, for just daily driving im looking for cheap with good treadwear, track driving is a different story.

I don't know how long it is but it is lodged into my brand new sp 9000's. Do you guys think I should take it out. The screw isn't lodged into the inside groove. Does anybody know a good tire shop in san francisco that I could get this fixed at.

If your tires aren't already flat or if they are only slowly losing air, do not remove the screw. Any decent tire shop or even local garage/gas station should be able to do a basic repair. if you are offered the choice, have the tire repaired from the inside with a patch instead of from the outside with a plug. Good luck.

Try America's Tire company. They do excellent work, and best of all, they will repair punctured tires (correctly, with patches, not plugs) for FREE.
Awful nice of 'em, if you ask me.
Check the list of Bay Area stores here:
Store Locator for San Fran
And DO NOT remove the screw!!

How do you like the tires as far as comfort and low noise ?
I have Mich Pilot Sports and don't like them due to the stiff sidewalls..I don't want or need a track tire...looking for low noise and comfort !

Get an all season/touring tire, but due to the short sidewall on our 17s don't expect a huge improvement, unless you go with a 16+taller sidewall. You may want to dial down you tire pressure as well.

Oh yeah about the contis. They're basically junk, I don't find them loud but they absolutely suck in the rain (forget snow), and they wear out real fast. My rears are toasted already under 14k with no burnouts or abuse. Highly unrecommended!

bagwell, try out the Dunlop SP9000. I drove on the bridgestone Potenza RE92 Z-rated tires on the new 2003 IS300, VERY QUIET. they are all season tires.
