From the searching I've done so far, i found that it's all one big assembly that needs to be replaced together Sucks as the light is fine, just the lens thats broke.

It is one unit. Kinda hard to remove the first time. But once you know how to remove it its easy. The whole inside behind the trunk lid has to be removed. There are three clips with screws holding it in. Once taken the back apart you will be able to see what im talking about.

Thanks for the info, i glued the lens back on for now.

gluing it back on reminded me of my old 85 5.0 Mercury Capri, must have used a case of krazy glue on that thing

So, i found one for $120+ shipping. not to bad i guess, been working a ton so i have had no time to really take it apart. Little worried about you saying it was hard at first? from what i can see it's much the same as just replacing a tail light. Am i wrong on this? Was looking at just doing the work myself.

well that was a bust, i can't find a decent place to get MB parts (inc this 3rd brake light i need) that will ship to Canada. I mean its Canada for God sakes not Iran.
RMEuropean wants me to sign up for a US address with a 3rd party
Getmercedesparts don't ship outside the 48 states
mymercedesparts same thing.

I really need a hand here as I don't want to spend the $240 at the dealer when i know the same product is available for half that.

Damn, that's out there! The furthest I've ever been that way was Cape Breton/Sydney (and had to buy the original "My Bloody Valentine" to see what living there is really like ).

If you need the help and run out of other options, pm me and have RM ship it to me, and I'll forward it on to you, having my shipping costs reimbursed, of course. Though I would think that that kind of arrangement would seriously eat into the $120 difference, no?

Yeah just about as far east as you can go. St.John's is the largest city here at about 150k lol. Took a trip to NYC a few months ago and needles to say it was a culture shock (in a good way)
Thanks for the offer, but i think i will just bite the bullet and order from the dealership. Just sucks seeing so many nice deals online and not being able to take advantage of them. I'll give it another day or so to see if anyone else posts then order.

Thanks again for the offer Tommy
