05 C230 Komp DIY steering flush

Hello Everyone...

I'd like to flush my steering system this weekend and was wondering if anyone had a DIY guide for an 05 C230.

I found the one for an 02 C320 but wasnt sure if everything was the same...i.e. the location of the cable coming from the rack. and/or the way he got the air from the system (turning the car on for 3 seconds, turn it off, over and over 5 times) I thought turning the wheels from lock to lock was the way you purged the air?

anyway, I grealty appreciate the assistance.

I thought the general way to do it was just to suction out the old fluid with a syringe from the reservoir and replace it with fresh fluid. Then go lock to lock a couple times to circulate the new fluid.

That would get most of the fluid replaced. If your fluid were especially dirty, maybe do it twice.

Personally, I wouldn't remove the lines.

Hello XHale707,

Yea, I got your DIY (thank you very much) but I was wondering if there were any difference from the 02 C320 and my 05 C230?
Like where the cable is coming from the rack underneath....I dont want to get into it and get under there and not be able to find it...LOL...you know what I mean

Or the part where you turn the car on and off 3 seconds at a time for like 5 times to get the air out. Ive heard people say turn the wheels from lock to lock to do that. Which one is better for the car?

I have a couple cans coming today and was hoping I could do it this weekend while I'm doing the tranny fluid and filter.

Thanks again guys for the information.

Thats what I did, Turkey baster method.
I do that with brake fluid to, between flushes.

+1. Just to do a flush, don't disconnect anything. No need to introduce air into a system that doesn't need repairs.

I do the turkey baster method and remove the fluid in the reservoir and refill with fresh once a year. Keeps the fluid fresh and is easy to do.
