Got a C320 loaner, have questions?

First, the climatronic is the digital one not the analog like my C230K. I prefer the analog, it seems simpler. The odd thing I noticed is that the fan noise is not as loud in this car compared to mine. I had to crank the climatronic almost all the way up to make it as loud as the C230K is on number 4 which is a very low setting.

Also, the large grill on the dash below the windshield seems to have an open/close vent knob on it. Is that for defogging the windshield? Does the c230k lack this defog ability?

Also, do all the Cs have carbon cabin microfilters? I drove by a diesel truck with the loaner and the interior stunk like diesel exhaust.

Thanks

The vent on the dash is designed to disperse the air more gently than the vents. The knob to adjust it used to be available on all C's, but they started phasing them out. Some cars have them, some don't.

Only the cars with digital climate control have the charcoal filter. So the loaner should not have smelled if you turned it on. But your C230 does not have this feature.

Matt, thanks, one more question

Can the cabin microfilter be retrofitted into cars without it?

With great difficulty, I believe.

Lynn's correct. It requires installation of new ductwork in the HVAC. I'm not sure this would even be possible without also installing the dual fan system at the same time (as this is also part of factory-installed climatronic), as it's possible that the charcoal filter elements will only fit this set-up.

Cheers, BT

Sounds like quite a bit of work. and in addition to all of that keep in mind that the charcoal filters are not cheap about $150....
