Audio 20 C/D error
Hi from over the pond, Have recently bought an 04 plate CDi 220 with single stock audio 20 fitted. pressing CD on the control panel, gets me CD ERROR on the display, Will not accept a CD I have no reason to suppose there is a CD stuck in the player.----- The car was bought as seen so no guarantee--------I have gone through numerous posts, and found the fuse that controls the unit, (found in the fuse holder in the engine compartment)taken this out and replaced hoping that it may reset the thing, no joy. I have also read that some with the same problem take the car to the dealers and they work some magic on it at a cost I cannot afford.---- Does anybody know what they do--------If I disconnect/reconnect the battery will this reset it----------If I reset the computer on the steering wheel to factory settings will this reset it.-------I have looked at the threads and photos of how to remove audio 20 (thanx to the guy who posted them) From his photos I can see that when audio 20 is pulled out in the back is a fuse-----could it be that this fuse has failed but is allowing power to the radio-------I have also read, that in extreme heat the CD player can shut down------should it reset itself--------I have nothing to lose in looking at the unit-------It may be that when I check the rear fuse and unplug all the leads and reinstate them the CD may kick into life (and pigs may fly) If it doesn't then I will open it up, just to check that there isn't a disc stuck inside. Failing all this I could reinstate it back into the car and just use the radio and connect a M/P player to it. Or try and get a replacement unit off E-Bay. As a purist I would like to get the unit working again. I don't mind shelling out a bit, but I don't want to be scammed for a dealer to do something simple.
An idea of our dealer labour charges. parking brake fault. red light and alarm sounding. traced by myself to the brake cassette under the rear seat, return spring broken. They wanted £51 for the cassette and £400 to fit it, I just took the cassette. The guy wouldn't look me in the face when he gave me this price.
A bit of history the car was stood over our recent bad winter.
thanx to all in anticipation.
dibs.
