C180K gearbox shifting problem
Condition:
- warm engine (driven for 20km already)
- slight incline
How it happens:
- only happens when I take off from standstill
- normal acceleration with the flow of traffic
- light throttle application
- engine increases to 3500rpm+
- I ease up on the throttle
- gearbox still in 1st gear, has a little think (shifter is in D and in C mode)
- shifts to 2nd with an almighty jerking like someone rear ended me
Throughout the drive to and from work today, I have been pretty much driving with light throttle applications, relatively constant speeds etc so there couldn't have been any mistake that I've wanted to drive agressively at any time.
It only does it once and it seems I can't replicate the problem at call so I can only try to record on video what exactly happens when I get around to it.
The car has been serviced and all that by the books so I'm not exactly sure how to deal with these auto-erratic gearboxes.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
I'm resetting every few weeks and every time I do I bless learning the procedure.
I also have a w203, c180k 2003 model, just before the timing chain decided to let go and bend all the valves a few weeks back, the gearbox was playing up mostly when cold. I am not sure if this just needs a gearbox service (oil and filter) or if the problem is bigger then Ben Hur?
Currently my car is sitting dead in my driveway waiting for a head replacement, timing chain, chain guide, PCV valve and hoses, Tensioner, Cam Sensors and harness.
This car has been a very expensive experience over the last 12 months.
for an MB
