Ok, I'm trying to get informed perspectives on the relative pros and cons of these two autos.

Anyone walk this path as well and care to share insights?

I've driven both and am having a tough time idenitfying trade-offs. They are the same price and I am buying to keep for 6-7 years. AWD is not a big deal in my climatic zone.

If you want easy and cheap horsepower, go with the Volvo. Most of the Turbo Volov's have appox 40-50hp hidden inside the engine. A simple cat-back exhaust and a simple manual boost controller, you can have 40-50hp right away. I have modified a coupe of Volvo with turbo, even with the S40 (1.9L turbo), it can easily output 200hp from 160hp stock.

I had an S60 for a couple of months, it wasn't a turbo however...just the plain 168hp engine.

it was ok....it needed the 17" wheels and a little more power.

nice car...but a tad quirky in my opinion.

but........for the same money wouldn't you rather drive a Mercedes ?

the C230K Sedan is a bargain....altho yu shuld be able to haggle with BOTH Volvo and MB.
