Minifan in Console
I heard a rumor there's a tiny fan in the overhead console which pushes air over a cabin temperature sensor.
As I sat in my garage last night, I could hear a small buzzing sound coming from the console so I assume that's the one.
Now, interestingly enough, the buzzing sound never stopped. Even after I closed the door and the dome light turned off, etc.
I was just curious if anyone ever waited long enough for the fan to stop, and how long that time interval was? Or does it just run continuously as long as the battery is connected? Why would they let it run so long - who cares what the temp in the cabin is when your car is all shut down (I did not have REST mode activated).

It runs all the time. Take a 1/2 inch square of single-ply tissue paper and hold it up the the plastic grill on the right side of the console. The fan draws air into the console, so it will draw the tissue paper to the grill and hold it there... indefinitely.

Wow, I wonder how long a fan can run continuously like that. I was planning to keep the car for SEVEN YEARS!
Maybe they did the research and found less stress on the fan if it always ran vs. being constantly turned on and off.
