AMG won't put manual trannies...no need. Like Tommy said, manual trannies are dying out. Even in the BMW community everyone is talking about DCT trannies. Manual trannies are a thing from the past. Putting out manual transmission isn't jumping ahead of the game. Jumping ahead of the game was when BMW introduced the DCT and had it available in lower models. With these new transmissions you can do everything that a manual can do but better. Only thing your not doing is pressing an extra pedal and putting the shifter into gear...well you kind of are from park to drive lol

The whole auto industry is going to better autos and yet we have a few knocking AMG because they don't offer any manual cars.

I think people still like manuals is because of the good memories we have with them. I remember my dads 911 6 speed. Oh such good memories so that is why i would want an m3 manual for weekends. But like i said i would rather have a c63 for daily driving. And i think tail happy is not what i should have said i should have said easy to brake loose. The 4 door m3 i drove seemed to not have that issue as much. I drove both on a rainy day so that is why i noticed that.

Dude BMW fastest track car is a 3 series, its an embarrassing company and it only took them nearly a decade to start putting Turbos on their cards. They are playing catchup. The whole BMW handling marketing is nonsense. BMW drivers are one of the worst ones I see on the track.

Please do tell where your numbers are from because bmw did not make an m6 in 03 if i remember correctly. and the 2003 m5 was the last year for it till 05 where the sl was just coming out.
also how the hell do you compare an sl to an m5 i would compare an m5 to an e55.

I am not 100% sure but in recent history bmw has had some very very good engines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward%27s_10_Best_Engines so i don't think they are playing catch up.
and i love how you say bmw drivers are some of the worst on the track. First how many Mercedes do you see on a track and second anyone can buy an m3 or a clk63 black (awesome car) that doesn't mean they know how to drive the thing.
I am not saying Mercedes sucks but BMW's are not a pinto or something.

You guys made comments that AMG cant handle. He replied saying that on the Nurburgring the SL55 out handles the M5 and M6. Basically the older SL55 out handles the newer M5 and M6.

"To be eligible, the engine also must be available in a vehicle with a base price of no more than $54,000" I'm guessing that's why you don't see any high end Benzes or Bimmers. Probably they have a price cap. EPIC FAIL!!!!

I agree though Benz is more superior.

what my intention was with that statement is that i believe overall MB/AMG will eventually come out ahead. yes, they go back and forth, at times BMW is making better cars, maybe ten years later, AMG is making better cars. really, they're both great examples of excellence in automotive engineering and i can't say i would complain if i had either or. i just have a preference towards MB because of the overall scope of things. if i was looking solely towards performance, then yes i probably would buy a BMW because you can get more speed for less $, but when it comes to style, i personally do not like the way BMW has been heading lately with its last 2 changes in body styles. i just think its too bulky and rounded, doesnt have that sleek look anymore.

I'll take an Audi over a BMW any day. That's because I am bias toward BMWs loool BUT that doesn't mean that I still don't think MBs are more superior

AMG should have had mannies from the C36 on; I understand that now they may be useless to some (though not to me, I still enjoy mannies, and don't anticipate doing anything else), and so I'll give them a pass, since current cars' slushboxes shift faster. However, this wasn't always the case, and AMG should have done some proper R&D. Besides, it would have had a trickle down effect to the other models; MB mannies are fairly awful except recently, when of course, they're going away. MB's timing is pretty lousy - a C43 manny would still be something to contend with, kind of like like an updated 190 Cosworth.

I am not surprised a 2 door sport coupe out handles an m5 but of what year m5? as for an m6 they are **** so who cares lol but that is more like an clk55 i would think.

The price cap is true but he said bmw is behind the times in building engines they obviously are not doing bad in the bulk of cars on the road today. There are way more cars under 54k then above and bmw is leading that at least according to ward and who does not like a bmw inline 6 from say last gen m3 or something. I love how i am defending bmw lol i don't really love/like/ would own any of there cars really but there are way worse car companies out there. I am done with this if you think bmw sucks i am not going to change that but BMW is not trying to beat mercedes they really don't make a compressible car to half of the amgs out there like the s55,s63,s65,g55,sl55,sl65 i am sure i am missing one oh yeah cl's but whatever. I am in a bad mood anyway so no hard feelings just a bad day at work with crap that is now spilling onto the boards i am done for the night before i start yelling at KARO and have him teach me a lesson lol

That is a sick suv thats for sure but i prefer a g55 still has at least the looks of being able to drive on a dirt road.
My dad got a 2010 gti with the dsg all i can say is wow what a transmission i really want to drive the new Mercedes auto (sls transmission) don't think i can pull that one off though. why would you want a manual with that good of a trans?

sadly i might leave the Mercedes family soon and get a vw gold tdi with the dsg but if that happens i will still have my beast (c320 lol) My beast has 159k on it and don't know how much longer i can trust it to be 100% reliable on my crazy road trips i do. I don't need to break down in the middle of nowhere with a Mercedes good way to get a 1k bill for a $20 part and 10 minutes of labor lol
