Hopefully another MB soon..
Car offer.

I had my car for sale for a while now.. and a guy called me up with a decent offer.

In the ad I had asked for $7000.

He said $6000
I said $6500

He said, "Give me a response by Wednesday, and hopefully we'll both think about it."

I'm thinking $6,300 but then again, I might stay at $6,500. I don't know.

Why is this price?
2003 MB C240
-102k Miles
-SRS "Visit workshop light" on
-Rebuilt title (Hit in front and rear left quarter panel, both fixed professionally)
-Few scratches here and there, nothing major.

If I sell the car, I hope to buy another MB, BMW (little chance, unless I find a steal), Lexus IS300, or Infiniti (FX35,G35).

I kept the car for 20k miles, and put a total of maybe 8k with the whole thing. I think i'm getting decent money out of the car, but not a profit.. Sorta get what I mean?

Opinions?

I think I would let it go for 6k. That's just me though.

With that history, you think so? lmao

I don't know.. Parents say to give it for 6,300. They'll be fine with that price, I'm kind of agreeing with them as well.

The reason I'm saying this is our car prices plummet like crazy. I would counter offer with 6.3 but if he doesn't take it then I would definitely sell it for 6. 2 years ago blue book for my car was 22k year later 18k now it's 16k. Prices are dropping like crazy.

C55 was 26k now you can get one for 18k and a clean one too.

How old are you? My car is definately going soon as well. If you have some money to spend let it go for 6.3k or 6k flat.

I'd sell it for 6K. Cars with rebuilt titles are a hit or miss when selling. If you lose this guy, you may not get another buyer for awhile.

Yep, too many issues. The SRS light being on was bad enough to where a lot of people wouldn't even have considered past that but it's also a rebuilt title. I'd let it go for $6,000 and be thankful I got that much.

Chain of thought for a car buyer:

Rebuilt title + SRS light = No airbags replaced in car after it was hit by a semi doing 120mph and duct taped back together.

C240's aren't worth anything anyways, they're the red headed step children of the C-class imo. Def sell it for 6 (no one in CA would buy that for 6, lol) I bought my 230k for 8k, no CEL/SRS and clean title, haha

Its not about the money. Always bargain, and see if you can do it with everyone staying happy.

I'm down to 6,200. He said he'll think and tell me tomorrow.

I guess i'll go all the way down to 6,000 if he can only do that much.

I'm assuming due to the economy right now. I bought it from a dealer too, so I had to pay tax, etc. Worth it, imo. Super clean all the way around, 105k miles at time of purchase, clean title. Mercedes aren't really worth a lot yo, at least, not the c-class. They're very good bang for your buck (except the c240 lol). I test drove some BMW's but they seemed pretty cheap all around compared to the Mercedes

I'd let it go for $6000. But, if you really want the extra money, tell him you'll split the difference and give it to him for $6250.

The SRS Visit Workshop and rebuilt title are huge minuses. I'm surprised it's still worth $6k.

Don't want to pile on, but I'd let it go for $6k too. It's really difficult to sell cars with any issues, especially electrical ones, and a rebuilt title.

Sold it today for 6k cash.

If I would of told her to see it before we negotiated (i know, its stupid to negotiate over the phone), I guarantee I coulda sold it for 6,500. SHE LOVED THE CAR! She didn't even test drive it! She just signed and drove off within 5 minutes!
