trading in 320 opionions plz.
Hey guys well I have my 03 c320 and I have been having a lot of problems with it..and cant seem to get it running right. Well I really love mercedes and so does my wife so I found a 05 c 230k with 50000 miles all loaded black with a amg kit for 17000. And I talked the guy down a bit.
So what do you guys think is it a good deal? Should I go with that year and model...and is the keprossor even that much better or should I be goin with the sport.? Thankx guys.

Yeah I think it's a good deal. I bough my 05 c230k with 39,000 miles for 20k. I ended up paying only 13k because of a 7k down payment. I really love my kompressor. It gets great gas mileage too. This car is my first merc and definitely won't be my last. I think you will be just fine with it. Make sure you get a list of what services have been done to the vehicle too. Good luck!

Seems like a great car with low miles but 17k is a little on the high side. I don't know the price difference between Cali and Oregon but here you can get one for around same mile for 15k

*Sigh*. It really makes me feel bad when you chaps talk about $17k, $13k c-class. You wouldn't even get an 2000 model C-Class classic with high mileage here in Australia for $13k... or maybe just.
In response to your question; I'd upgrade to something post-facelift. I personally wasnt going to consider pre-facelift after all the reports I read. Truth is my 2006 would make me feel a little uneasy if I didn't have a 3 year warranty.
Oh and the AMG factory kitted models handle very well.

I bought my 2006 c230 sport with command and lots of other goodies with 59000 mi from a one owner private seller for 15600... Take a pass and search more. Sometimes waiting a little will go a long way

the 2006 and 2007 c230 got switched from the 4 cylinder kompressor to a 2.5L v6. it's about the same power and gas mileage, there's just a lot of differences with what errors MB fixed with the electronics in the newer ones. i'm not too familiar with the kompressors but i know from other people on this forum that apparently a lot of issues were addressed with the 06 and 07.

The C230 isn't going to be as fast as the C320. But check out the C32 section and see what they say. I know the AMG C32 is pretty fast and they are around 14k for a decent one.

You want faster then a c320 lol
If you want a w203 you have 3 options
C350, C32, C55
C350 or C55 would be best since c32 is old and pre facelift issue apply

If budget is limited and you want to drive fast, local or Japanese cars are the best option. Yet if you want to drive with a bit more sofistication than a standard locally built car, a good German built car is the way to go.
Of course if cash-flow did not limit choice, a nice AMG or S500 Mercedes would couple best of both worlds (speed & refinement) for me. Also wouldn't say not to a 500 SL :-)

I'd get a c32, I'm just not interested in crompressor engines.. My indie and other workshops told me that compressor engines are quite troublesome in my country. Not sure if its the climate and dirt or maybe the quality of gas itself..

KBB prices that car retail in ecellent condition for a little under 16k. Now, with the amount of cars for sale, it is very easily a buyers market. I live on an island with very little options and car way over priced becasue of it, but I can get that year and same mileage car for 12,500-13,500 often.
Here is a perfect example: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/2337337236.html
Unless you are attached to that particular car because there is just somrthing special about it, I'd take my time and look around. I'd also let the seller know that I am looking for a better deal as well. If you have the cash, show him 14K and maybe you'll have 2K to set aside in the bank for the first few months just in case there are some problems with that car thate the owner failed to tell you about, I mean after all when you sell your car I am sure that the buyer will not be aware of its issues. That's just how it goes when you buy/sell used cars.
When I bought my '05 c230 Kompressor, I negotiated the price down to just under $9,000 with the tax and title I paid right at about $9,400. Now I worked hard on this deal and I have some experience buying used cars as I have been through alot of them.
And my car wasn't perfect, there were a few small issues, and I have since put in about $500 for maintenance because I do most of the work myself. But My car is now running like a champ and (knock on wood) I am hoping that I only have to deal with the normal auto issues from here foward. That's is why I stated earlier that if you can save a few grand and just put it aside for "unexpected" issues thate may come up in the begining, you'll be good to go!

After I got devastated by one, I started doing research. You guys are right, never knew these modded SRT-4s are that fast. This one definitely had to be modded. It took off on me like it was an M6. I do agree on the FWD part.
