Thumbs up JP's c230k car thread and progression.

Hey my fellow MBers! I wanted to start a thread about my w203 so I could put up pics as I continue modding and also so I can post any questions I have or if anyone gas questions for me they can all be posted here so I won't contribute to clogging up our forum.
The first question I would like to start off with is what would everyone suggest I do with my grill. I have plans later with outkasted (Jeff) to possibly wrap the grill, but until then I was considering painting the grill black. I'm just unsure about this being that my car is a midnight blue color (tanzanite) or however it's spelled. Unfortunately I don't see that many w203's in my color with blacked out grilles. That's all I have for now, but I will be constantly updating this thread. Also I wanted to let everyone know that if anyone has questions about lighting, I might be able to help. I used to have an auto accessories shop from 2005-2008 and from 2008-until present I have been dealing in HID and LED wholesale. So I know a good deal about lighting. Especially since my w203 has all the lighting in LED and HID. I am not trying to say that I'm the most knowledgeable in this area but I know more then my fair share. If anyone has anyother questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for any input.

Correction, Drove An '05 C230 Kompressor SS
Great to see that you started one of these Progression posts JP, Time to snap some pics and post them up!!

To answer your Grill question, I Personally think the subtle carbon fiber accents across the car that we talked about doing, will set the midnight blue color off perfectly.
IF you can keep the grill chrome for now, It will be sooooo much easier to wrap it when ready.
If you're thinking of temporarily painting the grill, later It will be much more difficult to wrap.
The Vinyl will apply much better to the OEM Chrome coating vs. the spray can painted surface.

I'll Call you this up coming week and fill you in on the progress of the Material purchase, About another week or so everything should be buttoned up.

Awesome Jeff! If you think it's better for the oem coating to be on there then I'm taking your advice. I definitely trust all your knowledge in this area. I didn't know it would make a difference or not if it was painted. And just to let you know, I wanna do the wrap in all those areas we talked about. Did you end up ordering your spoiler from Gary? And I will be putting up some pics probably tomorrow. I will put pics from when I first got her to now.

Pics!

But yea, I like the grille black but with the silver hood star on it for some added contrast, for example on eesjunin's car:
https://mbworld.org/forums/members/e...ip-lights.html

I'm not sure if you and him have the same color, but I think it looks real good.

Good stuff though, nice of you to offer your help here.

Thanks giannidy, that's exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate it. I do like the way it looks with the front lip too. I was also interested in the depos, but didn't know whether to get chrome or black background.

Like Jeff said though, if the wrap will stick better to the oem finish then I am just going to leave it oem until we wrap it.

Ok. I'm going to start putting up some pics. I've got a lot of pics of cars (mine, wife's, and mine) that are really good. I'm only going to put up a few pics of each. I have a lot of pics so if anyone wants to see more just let me know.

Ok here are some of when I first saw the w203 on the lot. I didn't get to test drive it that night but I eyed her down and was really looking at her hard:

These were pics a few days later after I took delivery:

And of course these are pics of what the whip looks like now:

These are some pics of my dads toys. 2011 Shelby Gt 500 and 2000 Viper GTS supercharged (569 WHP @5 PSI with NT555 drag radials):

Lastly here is a pic of the IS250 that I was driving before I made the sacrifice of giving it to my wife:

I saw this one day I was driving the IS home from school before my w203 was in my life. Little did I know I would soon be in the family lol!:

Sorry it was kind of a lot of pics. I was just excited to share them.

No. It's an auto. It's my DD so I don't think putting a bunch of money on engine mods would be worth it. I do want to work on the exhaust and I want to remove the supercharger resonator also.

what do you have plans for the exhaust besides the resonator?

I'm not really sure yet. I'm almost finished with school (5 weeks left!) so when I'm done I will start with all that. I have a buddy who owns an exhaust shop in Kissimmee so we are probably going to do some custom work. I will update it as it comes time.

about time you made your own thread! lol, jk

car is looking good man, your neighbors must be real jealous of your dad's driveway with all those sicka$$ cars in it! also love the pic of the sl65

couple suggestions for ya, in my opinion the chrome accents should be kept on the black(or dark colored) car. I'm not really a fan of the whole "murdering out" thing, but if you like it by all means don't hesitate to do it! star looks very nice too, I'm thinking of switching back to the OEM grille and star, but i'll prob paint mine black to go with the black and white them i've got goin'.

what else are you planning on doing with the car?

Thanks petar! Well I am planning to do a lot of cf wrapping. I want to wrap the grill, most of the interior pieces, and I was thinking about wrapping the chrome moldings around the car too. I also want to tint the side markers, mirror lenses, and tails. I just think it will look good with the cf pieces I will have going on which are the trunk spoiler, the door pillars, and the front lip from Gary. I do eventually want to get depos but I'm just unsure of which ones to get (black or chrome). I just wish that they had a few more choices of color when I went to purchase the car. Don't get me wrong, I love the color of my car but sometimes it leaves me unsure of what colors to contrast against it you know. Oh well I will get it all worked out. With some help from all my friends here!

i think the CF wrapping will create a nice contrast and accent the dark blue color very well. i would just say don't go straight black because as you probably already know, black and blue clash together.

are you doing the interior CF wrapping yourself or is someone else doing it? Also, where can you get the material to do that? I was thinking I wanted to add some CF to my interior too.

Well for the cf wrap, outlasted (Jeff) lives in Tampa which is a little over an hour from me. He can get the material and knows how to do it. You should find his thread and check it out. His interior looks sweet. And yeah I know about the blue and black thing. That's why I'm gonna just do cf.

Dude that sounds like a plan! I'm down for that. And I just saw I misspelled Jeff's member name. It's outkasted. My iPhone corrected it without me realising that. I have been wanting to get some sort of meet or something. ***** I'm cool with chillin on the beach and hanging out. Drinks, even better.

haha yeah that iphone autospell is great sometimes and then other times it drives me

sweet man, yeah see what you can do. we'll be at Hilton in downtown Savannah and taking day trips to the beach front. it's a lot harder to get stuff going over here on the east coast, i can see from the forum that there's a whole lot of MB stuff in Cali but not near as much here so it's nice when there's an opportunity for people to get together

Ok guys I have another topic I wanted to bring up. I did not know about retrofitting projectors until recently. I mean, it's never been on my mind because most of my previous vehicles came with projectors; s2k, IS 250, mazdaspeed 3. So I've been doing some studying up on retrofitting. Now I see that a lot of people like to go with the fx projectors. Is there a specific reason why these are the most popular ones? Is it because of cost? I am definitely going to retrofit mine but what do you guys think are the best projectors out there if cost was not a factor? I dont want to put the same projectors as everyone else. I was thinking either the AP1 s2k which is 00-03 or the Lexus LS 460. Another thing I wanna know is are all of these projectors guaranteed to fit? Is all I have to do is choose what I want? I have been looking at: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/

These are just some things I would like to know. This is one of the projects I would like to tackle in the not too distant future. Thanks in advance for all the input.

Ok guys so I was bored an decided to take some random pics of my car. As some of you know I switched my running lights to Amber SMD LEDs. I didn't get any good night pics of it so I decided to take some pics at midnight lol. And for those of you who haven't seen it you can check it out. I'm starting to really like this Amber.

Here is an up close one of the bulb in the housing.

These pics are off my iPhone. I was just trying to snap some quick shots so I know the quality isnt really that great. Thanks for looking!
