NYC - Have u changed ur own CPS? Change mine - WILL PAY $$$
Hey everyone,
I've followed these threads with 3 different friends and could not remove the crank position sensor off my 2002 C32 AMG:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...cps-today.html
http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...on-sensor.html
http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...on-sensor.html
Bought all the recommended tools and followed procedure. Managed to disconnect the harness but can't get the socket to stay the bolt.
Looking for someone to come to my home (Queens NYC) who has removed this sensor before, remove my sensor and install the new one. I will pay $$$ for your trouble & probably a few beers too.
Please contact me by email chino88@gmail.com if you can help. This is my wife's daily driver and she wants me to send it to the dealer! Help!
Thanks in advance,
Dave

JUst take it to any mechanic, tell em where the cps and the bolt for it is, and let them do it. They usually have the tools long enough to reach the bolt, and charged me 20$. Took em' 10minutes.

Thanks for your responses =)
Unfortunately the alternator died on the car, and from what I've read here I believe that the CPS crapped out with it. As of present - with a fully charged battery the car will crank all day but not turn over. Checked front & trunk fuses, got gas...
So basically I can't drive it and I was hoping to avoid a tow. I wanted to get the car to turn over and drive on battery only to the alternator shop to have the alternator rebuilt.
Anyone with any other suggestions?
Dave

Replacement of CPS is not that difficult. I am not sure what engine '02 C32 AMG has (M112?). Remove the air filter assembly on the top of engine, remove MAF, remove intake elbow pipe (between MAF and throttle body), you will be able to reach CPS with your left hand (while you stand on the passenger side, near battery). Slide your hand behind the engine, top of the bell housing. You just need 1/4" flexible extension.
