C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Numbers?

Anyone have any actual numbers on the c32 brakes?
I see lots of people excited to have them,
talk about the looks...nice
but to me, big deal.

Anyone experience better braking?
Short distances?
less fade?

Got numbers?
Show me the numbers!

My "Visit Workshop" light has been on for a week now, and I know I won't be able to wait for the C32 brake upgrade much longer...my wife uses it daily for work and about 500 miles each weekend and it's really becoming a safety issue. My intent is to just go to a local dealer for brake service.

Ben, is it possible to "transfer" my order to someone who will take it?
Hi Rob,

We haven't emailed for a while. Figure you're way busy.
Anyhow, just wanted to let you know I'm still ready to take over your order whenever the brakes come. I just want to make sure that whatever happens, EVOSport doesn't send them out to you and then you have to in turn send them to me. It would be a waste of time as I'm only about 15 minutes away from their HB location.

Just FYI.
Thanks!

I'm a simple kinda guy, I don't calculate brake times/skid pad #'s and all that sheit. All I can tell you is that after I did my install 4-5 months ago I noticed a DRAMATIC difference from my stock brakes. Braking felt quicker and MUCH more responsive than b4. A couple times b4 when I had my stock brakes I had instances where I had to put on the brakes QUICK. It felt like if the car skidded/hopped to a stop. After the "upgrade" I just stopped. Felt safer and smoother. On top of that for the G-buy price of ONLY 549 bux, that's a FREAKIN BARGAIN!! No insult to anyone directly, but those who missed out on it made a HUGE mistake. I paid MUCH more than that a while back. The looks of a bigger rotor behind your wheel is something that is...priceless Your next option is going to a ONE piece Brembo upgrade for 2K. Btw I still got over 60% left on my brakes and I drive A LOT. So there fade is pretty good.

I know i found out too late and am pissed about it. Yeah yeah i know its still avail for like $595 or something but knowing there was a GB price just a month ago kinda make me dont wanna pay full price (Ben: if you're reading throw in free shipping and I will reconsider ). I told my other friends (Bimmer and DSM owners) and they couldnt believe it was that cheap!

I'm not reading this, sorry.

Actually, I would like to be able to carry it at $549 all the time, but that price is way too low to justify us carrying it. I offered it at that price for a limited time in order to bring the sales back to the company that first offered the upgrade.

Thanks,
Ben

Brake pad wear is not fade. Fade is when you use the brakes a lot and they get hot, and then they don't work as well. A brake setup with lots of fade will hardly even stop if you get it hot enough. I've had cars like that and it's not good.

Probably shipping? I know $50 seems a tad high, those things do weigh a ton. Its shipping+"handling" you know

Everyone was charged shipping and tax (if applicable). The majority of orders have shipped this week. I may have one extra set available; but will not know until mid next week.

Thanks,

Ben

Thumbs up

Anyone put their Evosport - AMG C32 brakes on yet from this last group buy? Photos please.

I am scheduled for the install at Evosport this Friday,
Ben - is it all right to take some digital photos of the install for the rest of the forum?

I have some S/S brake lines for the install, from StopTech. They are close to me, they all drive great cars. Even their controller drives a red CLK. Their lead engineer drives a silver 740I with 19 inch forged BBS rims that look great. Several M3s in the parking lot. All with wild StopTech brake setups.

The hardest thing in the world to find is upgraded pads for the C32 front brakes. Seem they are all made in Europe or Australia and take time to get through customs. So I will have to go with the dusty stock pads

I got mine from him (late 2004 I think), and he sold them below any other price I could find at that time. I recommend you send him a PM.

Blake, do you have an '04 that came with the slotted big brake rotors? I have the '04.5 that came with those.

If you did have the stock slotted rotors/calipers, what was the difference in stopping power from those to the AMG's? Did you notice a significant difference?

Nope, I got mine from the first batch of '04's that had none of the upgrades that the 04.5's got...most noticeably the brakes and lower suspension. I didn't notice any major difference in stopping power from the LBK to BBK, but then again I haven't had to brake very hard and really test them out. I bought them for looks, and they serve that purpose well. If you already have the larger brake kit, switching to AMG would definitely not result in any noticeable difference. Some people say the AMG's have a slightly larger rotor, but others say they're the same Brembo made brake kit with a different caliper color and sticker.

I see. At first I was wondering why you did that, but you're also the first one I know that has the 2004 before my model (2004.5). Thanks for clarifying.

Question regarding brake upgrade and master cylinder

At what point would the master cylinder have to be upgraded in a rotor caliper upgrade? I understand the reason for larger rotors and calipers, but at what point does the master cylinder became the limiting factor—if ever?

Regards
