CLK Coupe 200 Komp 53 Plate
Remote Start
I have already search and want further help.

Is it possible to have remote start fitted to the standard alarm if so what does need to be done, do I need another key, will it be ok as i have a C220 CDI coupe.

Has anyone else had it fitted.

As far as I know, remote starter will not work on cars with infra-red keys.

I did some research on this and you actually CAN get remote start w/ your infrared key, but the catch is that the key must be in the ignition at all times. I was going to do this with my 202, but labor was about 6 hours and plus I'd have to keep the key in the ignition, so i passed

My saleswoman told me that she had personally seen electrical systems fried in Benz's because of remote starter systems.

But I think part of their job description is to scare you away from mods

Why do you need it in the first place? To warm up your car on a cold day? If yes, than there is a better solution: engine block heater. Your dealer can fit it for you.

I was just after another toy for my car, I sort off miss the feature I had it on my Civic Type R with the Clifford alarm, it was good fun scaring people as the engine come to life on its own.

I don't wanna scare anybody here who has done this mod, but a guy was at the dealership a few months back and apparently his whole electric system was dead, I asked my SA if it's normal for a benz electronics to go bad ( it was a coupe so a pretty recent car ) he told me the guy had a remote starter installed and so they probably won't be able to warranty it... now I wonder if this caused the meltdown or not, but even if it didn't, it voided part of his warranty

i drive them all, fast and hard
had one on my 94 jetta, did all sorts of **** with it, it was a viper, worked well, chicks loved it
