C220 CDI DPF W203
Has anyone ever had their DPF removed from their W203 C220?
Mine is a 2007 face lift and I want to remove it for performance and mpg, but am not sure if I have one or not.
Reading on other forums suggests that I don't as they were only on the 2004-2005 w203's, and dpf remappers say I do even though they haven't seen the car.
I have checked some of the diagrams of the complete exhaust system, and it suggests that I would have two cylinder boxes starting behind the turbo. The first being the catalyst and the second being the dpf. However I am told that the second box could be a second catalyst??? Im confused and would appreciate any advice.
Any reliable ways of telling how?
Notes:
I don't have 474 code listed anywhere (on engine or service book)
I have a sooty exhast pipe
I get poor mpg's on the same drive/driving style on occations.
I get smoke from time to time.
Also with regards to DPF removal some companies have offered just map out the DPF in the software? Wouldn't the DPF hardware get clogged up eventually if the regen cycles/warning lights aren't in place? I am looking to get it done complete - any companies you can recommend for my 203?
Thank you in advanced.

DPF,s have pressure differential monotoring across them. Take a look at what you think is the DPF & see if you can see these lines. If not it is the second cat. My 2007 220 CDI in Aust has two cats after the turbo & no DPF.

Thanks for your response Carsy. Sounds like a reliable way to check.
Had a quick look but I can only see the first cat after the turbo. I will probably have to take air filter box off or remove the sump cover to be able to see the second one and identify these lines. Ill look properly on the weekend.
On the subject of the second cat, would you know if could this be removed for performance? Going by DPF equipped models, one seems to be sufficient.

Try asking in the diesel section of this forum.
The second cat is obviously put there to comply with your countrys pollution laws.

Hi Guys
I can't figure out if my car has got DPF. Checked few VIN identificators but it is still confusing. My C220 CDI 2005 reg seems to consume too much diesel so i wondered if a blocked filter could contribute into it. VIN number: WDB2032082F766260 Thanks
