Buying a C180 2005 Model
Hello all,
I am currently in the market for a C Class. The prices here in Zimbabwe are crazy. Anyway I test drove a C180K 2005 and it drove like a dream. Next service is due in about 15000km. I wanted to find out though, the mileage is about 190 000km. Is this ok for a C class or should i stay away.
It has a full service history and the brakes and calipers were done less than 300km ago.
Your advice and help would be appreciated.

personally that sounds to high for me. If possible i would look for one with less miles. That said it all depends on how well it was taken care of. If it looks and drive like new and has every service documented then to me that would make me feel less scare of buying a car with 118k miles. Sadly I do not know much about the C180k I know it is very similar to the c230k we had in the USA but don't know what if any issues are known about for that specific one.
How much are they asking for it? and what options does it have?

That many KM's, I'd stay clear. But if you are interested, check the supercharger. I was told by a MB mechanic that they get noisy after a while and you dont want to pay to replace it.
I saw one come in whist my car was getting a upgrade installed. It sounded horrible.
Isn't there anything with less KM in your area?
You also seam to have/had a few Mercedes cars already. Surly you know a specialist who can help you inspect the car etc?

I spoke to our local Mercedes dealers and they have recommended that I work through a company called Zimoco. They only deal with cars from Germany and they refuse to sell as CPO unless they carried out every service as well as all the recommended body work on time.
The dealer also suggested possibly trading the s320 in for a well spec'd E-Class. I am working out the numbers now, but a 2005 C Class 240. Goes for about 25k USD after all the fees here. An E320 with some bells and whistles from 2005 is about 35k usd.
The s320 will fetch about 30 if i let it go.
In the past these cars were depreciated due to the currency that was in use here which made them affordable in the long run. I now need to be more practical, make sure the s350 gets as little miles as possible and try keep it in good nick for the next model.
