Rear Differential
lisamhos, Sorry to hear about the problems that you are having. I was having this loud whiring sound for a while from the back of the car. It sounded like the tranny was stuck in high gear. After scouring the two MB forums, I changed tranny fluid and differential fluid and didnot help. I broke down and took it to the dealer and they quoted me over a 1000 bucks to just replace two motor and one tranny mount and that would not fix the problem entirely. So I took my car back went online and purchased for 300 bucks and replaced myself two motor mounts one tranny mount and a the drive shaft support/bearing.These needed to replaced anyway because that contributed to the problem. so then I was lucky to find an independent MB mechanic that figured out that it was the rear differential. He found and replaced it with a used differential for $800 parts and labor and now all is well. no more whiring sound. Now I am trying to figure out why my suspension creaks when I go over bumps. any ideas?

I also forgot. I had that whiring sound in the engine once before. what it was is the tensioner pully. it was like a 30 dollar part and took less that 20mins to remove/replace the serpentine belt and the pulley tensioner. Hope this helps.

I took it to the MB Dealership. It was my alternator. They wanted $1300 to replace. What a JOKE. 
I bought one for $200 and my 16 year old son replaced it in about 2 hours. Even if they DOUBLED the price of the part ($400) and charged $99/hr for labor, that job should have been $600 or less.
Now, my rear sun shade is out and they quoted me $2600. Will never go back to the dealer.

If you need more motivation to fix your rear sun shade,.... do this! 
Then go to you local Mercedes-Benz stealership,... and show them your working rear sun shade!

The second one is driving thru the parking lot at about 5 mph. Can anybody identify what this noise might be? (excuse the camera recording sideways....)
