I appear to have an issue with my '02 C230K climate control. I often use 'EC' (economy) mode on the climate-control, when it's not too hot out, and it doesn't seem to be working. The light is on, but the air is very cold coming out from it, as if it's using the A/C compressor. If I press the button, the light turns off, but the air seems to stay the same temperature. So, it seems like the A/C is OK, but the 'EC' mode isn't working properly.

Is anyone aware of what may cause this? I guess that it's better than the opposite ('EC' mode works, but A/C doesn't), but I would still like to be able to use the vents, without using the A/C, if possible.

I also noticed, during the winter, that the air coming out of the passenger side vents was noticeably cooler than from the driver side vents, when the climate-control was set to the same temperature on both sides. 'EC' mode was on then, as well. I suspect that the issues are related.
