fuel filter

The MB service interval is 65k i havent personally done one on the 203 chassis but there usually not that hard to achieve. they reside just in front of the left rear wheel under the car and have feed and return line that goes through it.

I've done 2 now on C230 coupe's. It's annoying but not terrible.
The filter has 4 leads so you'll want to keep them sorted correctly. You will want a few pairs of vice grips so it doesn't leak gas all over you.
It is great when it leaks on you and burns your armpit/stinks up your clothes.![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)
The clips will probably be mangled by the time you get them off.

I didn't use the standard worm gear clamps (although they may be good enough). AdvanceAuto (and probably most other places) sell specific fuel injection hose clamps. I think I used 1/2" - 9/16" and 9/16" - 5/8" sizes (two sizes). I think they are probably better. The fuel is under high pressure so better clamps are probably a good thing.
Also, don't forget to relieve the pressure at the schrader valve near the engine first!! Put a rag around the valve before you relieve the pressure.

Is there a special tool for these fuel injection hose clamps ?
If the tool is used to remove original clamps can these clamps be reused ?
Thanks.

There is probably a tool to remove and install the original MB hose clamps - and if you used it, you could probably reuse their hose clamps, but I've never seen one and I'm not anxious to buy one. The clamps I got at the parts store just use a screw driver. The band of the clamp covers the entire circumference of the hose and that's why I think they are probably a bit better than a regular worm gear clamp.

Nah, put vehicle on ramps, OUTDOORS not in an enclosed space.
Remove a few screws from the plastic cover, and prop it open with a screwdriver.
Pop the clamps with a pair of vise grips,
get a filter and 4 clamps. Put a pan underneath to catch the gas.
Do one hose at a time from old to new,
and bolt back in.
Turn key on, let the system pressurize.
Wait a minute and start.
All done.
Wear safety glasses and gloves, do when vehicle is cold and away from any and all
sources of ignition.
Every 50-60K miles to be safe.

It really isn't hard. You can do it and save a bunch of money.
They don't HAVE to do it in the B service. My wife took her car in for a B service and they just told me it needed to be done. Certainly, they would have been glad to do it for me, but I had already bought a filter for her car.

2006 C230, 2006 BMW M3, bye bye C55:(
I did this the other week on my car. It is literally the easiest thing to do.
The only pain was getting the pipes to come off, which vice grips or the tip of a flathead screwdriver will do easily.

Yes I believe there is a wrong way to a put a filter on. In our filter, we have a built-in fuel pressure regulator. I assume yours does too.
The filter is clearly labeled next to the nipples as to which goes to which, and each side of the filter is also unique in itself.
