WTF does SERVICE A do?

I went in for my SERVICE A a few days ago and am not very pleased. I expected them to do more then just try to scam me when I try to pick up my car. I noticed no visible differences, not even sure if they changed the oil (do they?). As far as I know they rotated the tires and reset the computer and washed my car. Big whoop. At the end they tried to scam me on a few dollars by making up a phony problem to which I said 'no thanks Ill do it myself.'

The items checked/maintained are documented in your service history brochure and log book that you received with your car. You know, it's next to your owner's manual in that leatherette case in your trunk.

For the most part, the "A" service is basically an oil change and minor incidentals. They're scheduled to rotate the tires at "B" service. They do more at "B" service.

Nope, my dealer didn't rotate the tires on my B service. I knew that because my front wheels are scratched while the rear ones are in perfect condition. I ended up rotating them myself.

I didn't get a new air filter from B service either! They just did oil change, changed wiper and dust filter and checked a bunch of stuff.

Eason:

Which dealership in Vancouver did you go to? Is that the price they charge for all Coupe Service A's?

I believe that the "free" service is only offered in the US - doesnt matter if you lease or purchase the car. It is only good for 4 year/40000 mile - unless you purchased the extended warranty. I got the extended warranty - some can debate whether or not that was a good thing or not. But I have 47000 miles on my car in 1.5 years. So, all my services are "free" until the 100000 mile mark. I think they do not offer "free" service in Canada and Asia. Not sure about Europe. They really dont do much in Service A. They do more in the Service B - my dealer put in a new battery - they put in some imaginary complaint that was covered under warranty; also changed out the dust filter - which I do anyways more frequently than they recommend; change out the wiper blades. I am not complaining too much about what they do - fortunately, my delaer has been fairly good about making sure everything is taken care of - I think because there is only 1 MB dealer in Tucson and they have a smaller clientel - they want to make sure the customers are taken care of. Just my opinion though.

Not true. The extended warranty does not cover the scheduled services. That means the A & B services are only free up to 4 years/50,000 miles. After that you need to pay for it regardless of the extended warranty.

Thanks, I guess I should "RTFW" before assuming that the Free service gets covered past the 4yr/50000 mile coverage.
