Protection add ons

What types of add on protection have you used? I've seen references to 3M clear bra, a guard for lenses, etc. For those of you who have added something, could you please share: item, cost, satisfaction, pic if you have, etc.

Looking for comments on protection for paint, lenses, door edges, upholstery.

thanks

xpel treatment on the headlights and foglights...$50

I put on myself...wasn't too difficult...just one moisture/air bubble left.

$1000 breakage guaruntee for the headlights !!!

I figured its worth it to save myself an insurance deductible.

I paid about $700 (installed) for: headlights/fogs, basic front end kit, grill kit. Paid about 1-200 too much, I'm guessing. The kit was from Leading Edge; had it done on Long Island, NY (accent optional).

I don't notice it, so that's a compliment of sorts.

I'm waiting on the NE heating up before I install door edge/door pull parts that I got from Stongard.

I had Autobahnd installed prior to taking delivery. It is basically the same 3M film that all the companies use. I believe they all use an 8 mil thickness. It seems to be just thick enough for protection and thin enough to press into contoured areas. Autobahnd costs $595 for most cars and you get the hood, fenders, mirrors and front bumper and lower air dam. Grill and lights are optional. This company comes to the dealer to do the work. Not sure if the dealer gets a cut- probably they do get a small commission. I think they could have done a little bit better install. If you look closely, you can see some real tiny trapped air bubbles here and there (around the countours), and the lines of the product did not match up real well with the lines of the body panels here and there. Autobahnd also had a few more seams than what X-pel and Stongard have pictured on their respective websites. Overall, I would do it again since I know I want to keep the car for a while and it will look much better in year 5 with the protection on.
