We use it, but not in tunnels. It's handy when we're stuck behind a car that's belching out lousy exhaust.

I use it sometimes. Especially when it's hot outside and I need to open the windows and roof to let the air out first. Then I use it to close everything.

I use it to close the sunroof and the windows in a parking garage or on my driveway. Very convenient.

I usually drive around with the windows up so never really had a reason to use it. However, I tried it for the first time last week just to see if it worked.

It did.

Yeah it is...I use it to close the windows and moonroof too when behind a smog-spewing truck or when I am about to park.

i dont usually drive with the windows open while the HVAC is still running, and even if it was activated, instead of wasting 4 seconds holding down the tunnel mode button (recirc).. yes, four seconds.. mine is a bit iffy that way, I just take my left hand and pull up all four windows using the driver side controls.. one finger for each control (wait.. that's only four fingers.. er... )

that would take less than a 1 second to auto-up all four. i dont have a sunroof anyway

it figures you have no roof. HVAC doesn't NEED to be on.

is that how it works? recirc/tunnel mode works w/ HVAC off if there's a sunroof?

In my 2002 Coupe, it does have to be on, otherwise nothing happens. If I happen to have it off when I need to close the windows and the roof, I simply turn the blower control knob a little, then press the recirc button for 2 sec, and as soon as the thing begin moving, turn the blower off again - you don't have to keep it on while the windows/sunroof are closing.

into things
when smokes starts entering the cabin, i either click the recirculation button or the activated charcoal button...vola all windows close and the sunroof closes. Click it again, all windows and the sunroof go back to the exact opened position (I remembered it did, I hope)

Where on earth are you driving?

Sometimes I'm a bit too late hitting "tunnel" so some unpleasant stuff gets stuck inside for a short time (no charcoal filters in our 230).

...i believe some people think "tunnel mode" refers to using the recirc button to close THEN re-open windows and sunroof (if exists)

Not too many tunnels around here.

It works nice for closing everything at once when you part the car.

Is there anyway to re-program the electonics so the Sunroof also closes and opens during the Tunnel mode sequence? That is annoying.. If i am going to have my windows down, then the sunroof would natuarally be open as well.

Yes, there is. Run a search in this forum, you'll find the proper thread. I had mine done a month ago at my dealer for free.

That is exactly what "tunnel mode" is. It closes the windows and roof when the recirc button is pressed for two seconds.

I'll still call it tunnel mode. The manual calls it convenience mode. Maybe you can call it apple pie ala mode.

I think someone said it takes 4 seconds to bring up all windows so it was easier to just do it manualy. Either way is good but the reason i like the feature is when im pimping the car. U know when u have all 4 windows half down, sun roof up, then u have to close everything so u do,but when u open it back up it goes to the exact location. Pretty cool feature. I just wish when you turn your car off and back on it will also remeber the last window setting but it doesnt.
