Confused on which used C-Class 4matic to buy!
Greetings! I am in the market for a used car and don't have a great deal of money to spend. As a previous MB owner ('95 E320 that served me well), I'm definitely looking at MBs, specifically C-Class 4matics since I live in the Northeast. But I'm not well versed in cars (don't do any work on my own!) and am seeking guidance/input on which models and years are most reliable and won't cost a fortune to have repaired. I've looked at '05 C240, '06 C280 and the dealer is looking to put me into an '08 C300 - all are 4matics. What would the wise MBWorld Forum experts advise??! Many thanks :-)

The 08 is the most reliable, and will still have a warranty. If you don't work on your own car that's the one to buy. Mechanically the W204 is very similar to the W203 just all the parts have been tweaked to be super reliable.
If its a money issue the 06 is also a solid car. That should be problem free into its old age assuming it was very well maintained. (so make sure the tranny fluid was changed at 36k)

I would stay away from the '05 and '06 C240. They are nothing but trouble from what I have read on this forum...just search around. If you want a C240 get the '04. I know that doesn't make sense to get an older car but trust me, the '04 C240 4M was and continues to be one of the most reliable used C's on the market. I know this from experience, because I drive one. On the other hand, if you got the cash to blow on a '07 or '08 that would obviously be the best choice. Good luck
