Display shows door open when closed
This morning, I accidently caught the seat belt in the door of my 2007 c230 as I was closing it. I untangled the seat belt from the door and closed the door, but when I hit the lock button on the fob, there were no lights or chirp. The doors did lock (I checked them all), but where are the lights and chirp?? Also, when I'm driving, the display shows that the door where I caught the seatbelt is open. I stopped the car and closed it several times...I'm sure it's closed. What's wrong? Please help!!
Thanks.

You probably broke the door open sensor. If you look at another door you will see it sticking out and can see if it looks different then you just need a new switch (they are cheap)

Thanks samaritrey for that post. I had exactly the same issue. I spent over an hour searching the internet for posts on "C280 door ajar" and other similar keywords to no avail. On a hunch the problem resulted from the seatbelt not retracting properly and getting caught in the door, I finally added that to the search and found KimArmstead's post and your suggestion. Thanks to both of you!
Here's some keywords for the next person to find:

I did as suggested and looked at the sensor. It was askew. I straightened it and when I insert my key in the ignition, the memory settings adjusted the seat/steering wheel and the open door light was off. I'm sure I caught my seatbelt in the sensor. Thank you for the advice. I'm a widow and found I can do things myself when I have a good support system such as your site.

I would honestly replace it if it got bent they are not that strong and it would be really annoying if it broke off on a road trip or something as those types of things always happen at bad times lol
BTW you have my favorte w203 a 2005 C320 and if it is a manual you better keep an eye on it
