Morimoto H1 to Morimoto FX-R 2.0

Alright guys I finanlly bite the bullet and went ahead and ordered my FX-R projectors. Matt from the www.theretrofitsource.com was kind enough to exchange my Morimoto H1 for the FX-R and I pay the difference. Im going to spend the next weekend retrofitting them into my OEM headlamps. Any tips or criticism will be appreciated!

If thats the regular sized gatling gun shroud, you're going to have lots of cutting to do. I'll post some pics of the one i did with the same shroud

yes it is the regular size Gattling. I kinda figured I would have to do some trimming. Mostly on the shroud. I did a morimoto H1 retro a few months ago.

yea but the h1 is a cake walk compared to a flow blown retrofit. Its not too bad though. Just start off by trimming a small portion of the reflector and test fit. Then I always used a dremel sanding stone and slowly sand down more and more until the projector fits in straight and snug.

yeaa thats what i figured! But Im not JBWelding it or silicong the projector in. Im going to bolt it to the reflect and use a little jbweld to seal it better. I dont think the projector is going to have a problem going in.. Just the shroud

I bought the complete kit from TRS with the 55Watt Ballast and the XB35 Bulb. Which was part of an option when i originally purchased the kit. Which is not not recommended due to the chrome pitting on the projector due to the extreme small size of the projector. Which is currentlly showing early signs of it.. So I cant swap out my 55Watt Ballast because theres nothing wrong with it. But I can swap out my H1 Projector for credit because its under warranty and everything was purchased covered under there warranty.

check the inside of your bowls.... I ran mine most 30 minutes a day tops. Except one day where I drove for 4 hours at night so that might've done it. And what company bulbs and ballast are you using?

The bowls are all great. I've been using these projectors for a few years now. Currently using the morimoto bulbs and ballast. The 55 watt kit. Sad to here you are having bad luck with yours

your definitely using the H1's and not the D2S's? Because they got rid of the 55Watt ballast using the AMP connectors... And yeahh it does suck but you know what.. it forces me to upgrade them to a better projector.

Oh nice! And I took apart my headlamps this morning because I wanted to spend one whole day on them and have them done at night but I realized This projectors are huge haha. So im considering buying these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-03...Q5fAccessories

and using them to do the Retro instead of my OEM Headlamps

Cutoff looks great on the right projector. What is up with the left projector?

I was curious but it was a "bowing" issue with the FX-R's 2.0. But I cant do anything about it now thats it JB welded and bolted down.... :o(
